Scrapbook Challenge entry

An entry for our monthly scrapbook challenge from Karen (aka Krafty Katt) using patterned papers from Prima 'Craftsman' range (bought from The Scrapbook Garden shop).

Karen has used the sketch and made it her own.  Loving the die-cut cog details and the journaling telling the story of her Dad and his job as an engineer.

Really pleased you managed to get your entry in on time Karen - it was well worth the wait!  Thanks for sharing with us.

If you have any layouts to enter into this month's challenge - then they must reach me by the end of today to be included.  Everyone who has entered the challenge gets 10 entries into the blog candy draw for this month - so extra chances of winning.  Plus, if the winner (chosen by random number selector) has entered into the challenge they will get an extra prize in addition to the blog candy as a 'thanks' for taking part.  I will be drawing the winner in the morning - so pop back then.

Great photo choice Sheila - just the ticket!

Scrapbook Challenge: June entries

The ladies from Mad Scrappers entered into the spirit of the challenge and I have 3 entries from Wednesday's club to show you.

Kate created this layout of her other half using some fab patterned papers that she has been hiding (just waiting for a suitable photograph):

Linda S used the sketch and came up with this layout of her Grandson:

Finally, for today - this layout created by Gayle who used a photograph of her Dad (when he was a young boy):

All the ladies took inspiration from the sketch and made it their own.  Well done all of you.  I have entered you into the blog candy draw for this month - giving you 10 entries for taking part in the challenge.  All these layouts are featured at the bottom of this page, along with others that will be arriving shortly (nudge, nudge, Krafty Katt and ionabunny).

Thanks for stopping by today.

Laughter & Madness

Another 'mad' night with the ladies from the Mad Scrappers Club last night.  Plenty of hilarity, ambiguous comments and just general daftness all around.  Karen loved her 'gold star' as you can see from the photo.

They can multi-task this lot mind.  As well as talking, laughing and playing the fool, they also produced some fab layouts.  I managed to get some more entries for the scrapbook challenge here on this blog.

We discussed the 'rules' around the scrapbook challenge and I have decided that rules can be broken (what the heck!) - so here's the new rule: just create a layout on whatever you want (but still use the sketch as inspiration).  Life's too short to live by rules all the time!  So that leaves the door wide open for ionabunny to produce a layout featuring her 'Daddy bunny'!

Sheila (from last night's club) and Brenda B. (from the first club) both were drawn as winners of the May prize draw, getting £5.00 each to spend in the shop on the club night.  Sheila took some persuading mind to spend her £5.00 (lol!).

I'll show some of the scrapbook challenge layouts on tomorrow's blog post.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Mad Scrappers Club

Another Mad Scrappers Club night tonight ladies!  Hope you have your photo's of your Dads, husbands, partners, male relatives etc. at the ready as I am expecting great things from you all tonight by entering this month's scrapbook challenge.

Karen F has already entered into the spirit of the challenge and I am in the process of making her 'gold star' as we speak (lol).  As an added incentive, if anyone wins the blog candy draw this month and has also entered into the challenge - there will be a mystery bonus prize added in!

As well as standing over you all cracking the proverbial whip, we shall also be eating cake as it is our 2nd Birthday this month.  I have two different types of cake for you to drool over and if the verdict of the first group is anything to go by both were 'gorgeous'!
We shall be using patterned papers from the Carta Bella Summer Lovin' range, Bazzill cardstock and the technique this month is creating with a Viva Décor Pearl Pen.  Looking forward to seeing you all tonight.

Monthly Scrapbook Challenge - reminder!

Just a little nudge to get you in the scrapping mode and to remind you that The Scrapbook Garden blog Monthly Sketch Challenge is needing your layouts.  Poor Karen is all alone in the challenge at the moment and needs some company.

Just a reminder what you have to do to enter and get 10 extra entries into the blog candy draw.  Well first of all this is the sketch you have to use for inspiration:

This is the rest of the info you need:

As it was 'Father's Day' here this month in the UK I thought I would link this into this month's scrapbook challenge.  This is what you have to do to enter and receive 10 extra entries (all in one block, so more chance of winning):

1. Use the sketch above for inspiration.

2. Create a 12x12 scrapbook page on your 'Dad', or any other male relative.

3. Include some ink (this could be as simple as inking the edges of papers) or creating the background using inks.

4. Add a title (use something other than 'Dad', 'Son', 'Brother' etc.).

5. Include journaling (it can be hidden).

Once finished, photograph the layout and email to me at ann@thescrapbookgarden.co.uk

All qualifying entries will be given 10 extra entries into the blog candy draw for June.  Only one entry per person.  All entries will be shown on the blog and on The Scrapbook Garden Facebook page.  The winner will be chosen by random number selector.  You must be a blog follower to enter - your name must show on the left of this page under 'followers'.  Don't be shy ... it is a lovely sketch and can be interpreted anyway you wish.

The final day for entrants will be Monday 30th June 2014 (I have extended the date - so you have another week).  Ladies of the Mad Scrappers Club - come on, join in and show everyone how it's done.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Fab layout Linda - love it!

Next up with an equally fab layout is Anne G:

Lovely photo Anne and I like how you have added your journaling - yeah!

I just love those little cork footprints (hand cut I may add), and the subtle use of the burlap - lovely.  Thanks for sharing with us ladies.

Mad Scrappers: May layouts

The Mad Scrappers were very industrious last week and I have posted what they had created in our club time.  Sometimes though, they don't always have time to complete the layout at the club night and finish it off at home, then bring it along the following month to show me.  I have quite a few layouts to show using last month's kit of Graphic 45 'By The Sea' patterned papers, Bazzill cardstock and DCWV Burlap and first up today is Beryl with 2 lovely layouts:

I love the photograph Beryl with the 'sea' in the background - fab!

Love the title and the use of the burlap - and of course those cute photo's!

Finally, for today another lovely layout - this time from Anne D:

Love the photo choices again Anne - they match with the patterned papers so well.  Thanks for sharing your precious memories with us ladies.  I have more to show and will post shortly.

Leave a comment for the ladies to let me know you have passed by this way.  If you are a blog follower, your name will be entered into the blog candy draw for this month.  Don't forget that you can earn an extra 10 entries if you enter the scrapbook challenge for this month - details HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Show time: Rainton Meadows

It's that time again ... show time at Rainton Meadows.  It seems a while ago now since the last Ross Papercraft Show at Seaburn (back in April) but we are back next Sunday (22nd June 2014) at Rainton Meadows Arena, Mercantile Road, Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne & Wear, DH4 5PH.

The show is open from 10.00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m. and as usual the tickets are only £2.00 (under 16's are free when accompanied by an adult).  There is ample free parking, refreshments available on site, plus loads of demos going on as well as a lovely warm welcome from all the traders.

The Scrapbook Garden will be at this one and I have loads of lovely new goodies to show you as well as favourites such as those fab Tando Creative Clocks (which are always a good seller).  As usual I will be offering my 'pick up at show' facility, which allows you to shop online and using the 'pick up at store' option when you log out, gives you free postage, so you can just pick up at the show.  This option is only for those who can actually pick their orders up from the show on the day.

Thanks for stopping by today.

And there's more!

More from Wednesday's Mad Scrappers Club when members created layouts using this month's kit of Carta Bella Summer Lovin' patterned papers, Bazzill Cardstock and a Viva Décor Pearl Pen in Turquoise.

First up today is Linda P. who created this stunning layout:

I couldn't photograph this layout against the wall as it was still drying (pearl pen drops).  Linda added some little gems of her own but combined with the Viva Décor Pearl Pen drops it just added something else.  Just fab!

Another Summer layout from Linda - just great!
A lovely Summer layout from Janice - brilliant!

Another page from Gillian's journal - love the sunglasses!  I also spy some little Pearl Pen dots!

Last, but not least - a layout from Pat:

Love those kitty photo's Pat!

Thanks for sharing ladies - another month's kit with plenty of different ideas on how to use it.  Thanks for stopping by today - enjoy your Saturday.

Mad Scrappers: June Layouts

A really productive night on Wednesday at our first scrapbooking club of this month.  It was a very warm night and as it was our 2nd Birthday we had cake.  It didn't stop our members crafting though ... the cake may even had helped!

First up with her finished layout is Brenda, who produced this fab page using this month's kit of Carta Bella 'Summer Lovin' patterned papers, Bazzill cardstock and a Viva Décor Pearl Pen:

Fabulous photograph Brenda and I love how you have included one of the brand new Tando Creative chipboard words 'Friends' into your layout.

Edna is up next with her lovely holiday layout - very summery:

Fab use of the Summer Lovin' Element Stickers (extra to kit).  You have captured the 'Summer mood' perfectly with this layout Edna.

Finally for today is this layout by Julia:

Julia has used a mixture of papers from past kits but I can spy some of the Carta Bella paper!  Fab as always Julia.

Thanks for sharing with us ladies.  I will be back tomorrow with more from the ladies from our Mad Scrappers Club.  See you then.

Mad Scrappers Club

It was one of 2 Mad Scrappers Club nights last night and it was also our 2nd Birthday.  As not everyone likes chocolate cake (!) I bought two smaller cakes that were equally enjoyed by everyone.  Here's the proof:

I also caught them unawares (they are really shy!) to prove they do exist.  It was a really warm night (we had to leave the door open for some cool air to circulate) but it didn't stop productivity.  Everyone excelled themselves last night and produce some fab layouts, which I will post over the next few days.

It's another lovely day here in the North East of England - so get out and enjoy the lovely weather while it lasts.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Some of us have been scrapping together for nearly 7 years!  I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the ladies from the Mad Scrappers Club for their continued support.  Here's to the next year.
