Mad Scrappers Layouts: Karen S

At the last Mad Scrappers Club night, Karen S brought along a double page layout she created using the Mad Scrapper's Club Kit for March.  The kit contained patterned papers from Prima called 'Stationer's Desk', a Prima Lace Sticker, co-ordinating cardstock and some Prima Wire Thread.

Karen used  Bazzill Pomegranate as the base of this layout and added pieces of Prima 'Stationer's Desk' patterned papers to the top and bottom of the page.  I love the photo mat and the cut out heart shape and most importantly, the journal card.  Well done Karen for adding some journaling to your page.  I also love the mixed fonts in your title too.

I have to apologise for my photography skills on this one.  I photograph layouts near the end of the night and usually on a chair to get the best light in the room - unfortunately, I didn't notice the glare on this one (note to self - take more care when taking photo's).  I wanted to show it anyhow, as it is the second page to the previous layout and continues with the story - love it!  Thanks for sharing with us Karen.

I had more layouts to share but unfortunately, due to having a hopeless photographer in the club, they too are a bit too glary to show.  I will have to photograph them again in a better light.

Not long now until our National Scrapbooking Day - hope you are all suitably excited?  Thanks for stopping by today.

Photo's from Seaburn

It was a horrible day in Seaburn (weatherwise, I hasten to add) yesterday.  The crafter's from the region, and beyond came to visit us in their droves.  As usual I welcomed back regular customers, loads of new ones and a lady I knew through the Scrapaholix Clubs, but whom I had never met (until yesterday).  It was lovely to meet you Lynn from Stockton Scrapaholix Club.

I took a few photo's before the show started and DH took a couple of the first customers to come into my little shop (before he disappeared to watch his beloved Sunderland play!).  Luckily my eldest daughter came to the rescue and stayed to help until his return - thank you Joanne.

I displayed some of the popular Tando Clocks, home hanging and handbag storage, as well as adding the layout I created using the Graphic 45 'Beside the Sea' patterned papers into a 12x12 frame (I got loads of lovely compliments for this one - thank you all).

Some of the gorgeous Prima papers

An overall view of my little stall

Some of my lovely customers

A really productive day overall.  Not only in sales terms but in the fact I made loads of contacts for various other little ventures (that I will tell about in due course).  As usual a tiring but lovely day spent talking with like minded crafting people.  I will spend today updating my online stock and hopefully may be able to upload all the new Prima goodies either later today or tomorrow.  Thank you to all who attended for your continued support - it is very much appreciated.  Thanks for stopping by today.

I think this range may be a sell-out!  Don't worry though as I plan to re-order next week.   There are another 5 patterned papers but didn't want you drooling too much!  Let me know what is your favourite.   Mmmm wonder if any of this range could be in next month's blog candy?  What do you think?  Back tomorrow with an update of the show.  See you then.

National Scrapbooking Day: 3rd May 2014

I cannot believe that it is National Scrapbooking Day (NSD) next week.  Remember I organised it month's ago - well it is now upon us!  Just a reminder of what the ladies of the Mad Scrappers Club will be making.  We will be creating with one of those fab Teresa Collins Flip Books and the equally fab Teresa Collins 'Hello My Name Is' paper collection (9 sheets of gorgeousness and 2 sticker sheets - bliss!).

This is a Flip Book I made up using the gorgeous 'Hello My Name is' paper collection.

The Teresa Collins paper collection contains 9 sheets of gorgeous patterned papers and 2 sticker sheets that can make several layouts.   This is one of my favourite layouts so far that I have created using this kit:

If you fancy coming along I am sure I could make room for you - just email me at ann@thescrapbookgarden.co.uk and let me know.  If you cannot make it the Teresa Collins Flip Book and the 'Hello My Name Is' collection Kit can be found at The Scrapbook Garden online shop.  Thanks for stopping by today and have a lovely Saturday.

Mad Scrappers LO's: Eileen

Another lovely (but busy) night at Mad Scrappers last night.  We had an extra 5 club members than usual last night, therefore a bigger class.  A big welcome to Sheila (a new member) who was brave enough to join us!  Thanks for making her feel welcome ladies as she is returning!

There was plenty of scrapping, spraying, cutting circles (I now know who likes/doesn't like fussy cutting!) and general madness that you find at one of our club nights - but all in good natured fun.

Today I wanted to show Eileen's layout from last night, along with two others she created using last month's kit.  First up is this layout, using April's Kit of Bazzill patterned papers - Vintage Lace, co-ordinating cardstock and a sheer shimmer mist.
Eileen chose to use her own shimmer mist for this layout, along with the patterned papers from the kit.  Eileen will add some journaling to finish.  Overall, a striking lo - thanks for sharing with us.

Another lo, this time using patterned papers from last month's kit of Prima 'Stationer's Desk' and a Prima Lace Sticker.  These papers are perfect for wedding layouts.  Another lovely layout Eileen - thanks for sharing.

Finally, this layout (again using last month's club kit) of Prima 'Stationer's Desk' patterned papers.  Lovely layout and fab photograph - thanks for sharing Eileen.

All the above patterned papers and kit techniques can be found in The Scrapbook Garden shop.  Please leave a comment for Eileen.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Ross Papercraft Show: Seaburn Centre

I mentioned yesterday that the next Ross Papercraft Show will be at the Seaburn Centre, Whitburn Road, Seaburn, next Sunday - 27th April 2014.  The doors open earlier at 9.30 a.m. and close later at 4.00 p.m.  There will be lots more papercraft stalls at this event - so worth the visit.

There will be workshops through out the day, with Toni Darroch presenting two (2) workshops at 11.30am. and 1.00pm.

Hot and cold food and drink will be available through out the show. There is also a picnic area if you want to bring your own sandwiches.

Plenty of car parking all around, mostly FREE.

There is a FREE bus from the Seaburn Metro station running all day at very regular intervals, so if you are travelling by public services, just look for the 'Ross Papercraft Show' bus.

4 x FREE prize draws, one every hour from 11.30am. with every winner receiving £20.00 in vouchers to spend anywhere within the show.

Admission prices are only £3.00 for adults, with children under 16 years old, FREE if accompanied by an adult.

As usual, I will be offering the 'pick up at show' option when you order online and either pay via PayPal or cash at the show.  To order is simple: just select what you want from the online shop and when you check out, just choose the 'pick up at store option'.  This option doesn't add any postage costs to your order.  This option is only available if you are picking up at the show next Sunday (please order by Thursday at noon to enable me to process your order in time).  Hope to see many new and returning customers at the show next week.  Just stop by and say 'hello'.  Thanks for stopping by today.

S is for Sisters & also for Selfie

This is quite a long title for this double-page layout but I wanted it to show my 3 Granddaughters (younger in the first page) and how they look now (10 years later).  The title also reflects how social media has had an effect on our language (the word 'Selfie' didn't even exist 10 years ago).

The first page - showing a very young family snap.

The second page - showing the girls how they look now!

Both pages were created using this month's Mad Scrappers Kit, which consists of Bazzill Vintage Lace patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and a Sheer Shimmer Spritzer in gold.

I decided to use circles for these layouts because the embroidery hoops patterned paper reminded me of flair buttons and also I wanted a layout that would flow from one page to another and circles does this brilliantly.  This layout could also be used for a single page.  It was lovely to do something different from the usual layering effect that my layouts have been lately and these papers lend themselves to be cut into circles very well.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today.  It is Good Friday (in the UK) so enjoy the day off work (if it applies).  Have a lovely day.

Just Smile and Wave

Another layout I created using the fab Glitz Design 'Black & White' range of patterned papers and 'Alphabets and Words' Sticker Sheet.  This time I used white cardstock as the base before layering up with patterned papers from Glitz Design 'Black & White' (Stripe (both sides), Floral (reverse side), XO and Bits & Pieces).

I also used some Prima Lace Stickers (Labels) and those yummy Prima Say it in Crystals (Cartographer), that co-ordinate so well with this range.  I used another card from the 'Bits & Pieces' sheet (so handy to create titles) and added some words from the Alphabets & Words Sticker Sheet.  I added a rub-on of my own (in the bottom right hand corner) to record the details of the day.

I hope I have given you some more ideas on how to use this patterned paper range (nudge, nudge Krafty Kat!).  Hope to see you back here tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by today and have a lovely day.

Love the Pose

This is a layout I created with the fabulous Glitz Design 'Black & White' range.  I used 'Floral' for the base (reverse side), layered this up with black cardstock and 'Woodgrain' patterned paper.  The word 'Love' is from 'Bits & Pieces' patterned paper.

I made some banner shapes from 'Polka' and the reverse of 'Woodgrain' patterned papers.  The photograph is matted onto one of the journal cards from 'Bits & Pieces' patterned paper.  The words are from the 'Alphabets & Words' Sticker Sheet.

This paper range is so versatile that it is suitable for all manner of layouts (and cards!).  What would you create with this?  Leave a comment to let me know.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Octagonal Home Hanging

I showed you the Tando Creative Octagonal Home Hanging when it came into stock a couple of weeks ago.  Yesterday I decided to make one of these kits up as a sample for a forthcoming show at the end of this month.  I used Glitz Design 'Sunshine in my Soul' patterned papers (Stripe and Suns - used reverse side) and a Ranger Distress Ink Pad (Peacock Feathers).

I painted the top octagonal pieces  and the word 'HOME' with acrylic paint (watered down to give a washed look) and when dry inked the edges with the Ranger's Distress Ink Pad.   I inked the chipboard hearts, part of the house and the bird's wing with the Peacock Feathers Ink Pad, adding some small dots around the outside of the heart shapes to add contrast and pattern.

The bird, butterfly, roof of house and butterflies, were covered in the Glitz Design patterned papers.
I added some small buttons in a contrasting colour to complete.  I have attached all the octagonal sections at the back using tape to secure in place.  There is the option to tie each section together with either ribbon, string or any other suitable material.

This is just one option available on how to decorate this home hanging.  It could also be used for photographs or any other display use.  What would you use it for?  Leave a comment to let me know.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Layouts: Christine

Christine (one of the Mad Scrappers Club members) created two layouts, combining some of the patterned papers from the March kit and this month's kit.  This month we had patterned papers from Bazzill Vintage Lace, co-ordinating cardstock and a sheer shimmer spritz to play with.

For this layout, showing a lovely engagement photograph, Christine used one of the patterned papers from the March kit (Prima 'Stationer's Desk) and combined it with circles of patterned papers from this month's kit (Bazzill Vintage Lace).  Christine included an arrow that points to the second layout:

Another fab photo of her and her DH - 45 years later!  Another lovely photograph.  I love these 'before and after' photo's showing how people have changed over the years.  Another lovely layout - thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks for stopping by today - have a lovely Sunday.
