CHA 2014 Trends

Well now that CHA Winter 2014 is well and truly over, I thought I would have a little look around to see if I could spot any emerging scrapbooking trends.

Chalkboard is a continuing trend from last year with a lot of manufacturer's adding some to their ranges.  MME has brought out a whole range of Chalkboard products.

Arrows appear to be everywhere from stamps to patterned papers (another trend that I picked up on last season). Tim Holtz have some fab metal arrows:
Wood and Cork and other natural materials seem to be making an appearance, especially die-cut cork shapes (another trend that I used last year).  Jenni Bowlin has these wood veneer flash cards:

Sequins are another trend brought over from last year.  Both Jenni Bowlin and Teresa Collins have this trend in their ranges.  These are Triangle sequins from Jenni Bowlin:

Just a few of the trends coming from CHA Winter 2014.  Which are your favourites?  Leave a comment to let me know and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for this month.  Thanks for stopping by.

Come and join us!

There are still places available in our popular Mad Scrappers Club on the 4th Wednesday of each month.  From March 2014 we will be able to accommodate another 4/5 people quite comfortably and would love to have some new members join us.

Enjoying cake on our 1st Birthday last year

We have 28 members (split into 2 groups), which meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month (the 2nd Wednesday is fully subscribed to). The cost is £10.00 per month, which includes kit, written instructions, use of tools etc., room hire, tea/coffee/biscuits (sometimes cake).

I run the club by subscription (2 months paid in advance), which secures the room hire regardless of how many people attend.  It also secures your place and kit each month.  You have the option to 'try before you commit' by attending one session to see if it suits.  I have done this with several people who then become fully fledged members.  I have run scrapbook clubs for over 7 years now and have found that this subscription method works very well for everyone concerned.

Here are some of the kits we have had during 2013:

January 2013: Echo Park patterned papers, Nautical Blue, Intense Kiwi and White cardstock.  The technique was using a Ranger Distress Paint Dabber.

April 2013: Glitz Design patterned papers, Vanilla Cream and Blackbird cardstock.  The technique was a Glitz Tiny Roller Doodle (Anchors).

July 2013: Basic Grey Mint Julep patterned papers, Blossom, Espresso and Cream Puff cardstock.  The technique was using a 6x6 Template.

September 2013: MME Kate & Co. patterned papers, White, Navy and Lime Crush cardstock.  The technique was stamping on acetate with a Stazon Midi Ink Pad and a sheet of acetate.

I have some more wonderful kits lined up for 2014, having kicked off 2014 with Jenni Bowlin/Echo Park patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and matching Element Sticker Sheet.

The club is based in a modern church hall based in South Shields, Tyne & Wear.  If you live nearby and would like to come along and try it for yourself you are more than welcome.  Just email at ann@thescrapbookgarden.co.uk for further details.

Thanks for stopping by today.

More from the Mad Scrappers!

A couple more layouts from Wednesday night's class - this time from Eileen and Linda S. using this month's club kit of Jenni Bowlin/Echo Park patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and Element Stickers Sheet from the same range.

This one is Eileen's layout - lovely photo's from a trip to Ireland.  These papers lend themselves really well to this kind of layout.

This is one of the layouts created by Linda S - some fab photo's taken in Egypt.

Some lovely layouts created by the Mad Scrappers this month - thanks ladies for sharing with us.  It shows the versatility of the papers that they have been used for so many different layouts.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave a comment and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for this month.

Mad Scrappers Layouts

It was another Mad Scrappers Club night last night (the second club in the month).  This is usually a smaller group (for the moment) but we were joined by two of the ladies that usually go to the first club night and a new member.  We welcomed Maureen H to our club last night as our newest member.

This month the club members kit contained patterned papers from Jenni Bowlin/Echo Park, co-ordinating cardstock and Element Sticker Sheet from the same range.

This layout is from Stacy, who is one of our newest members (she started last September):

Fabulous photo choice Stacy - love the added doily and the title says it all!

This next layout is by Karen F, who decided to use a card (instead of a photo)signed by all her friends and colleagues when she left at the end of last year to take up a new job:

Another fab idea and something to treasure for always!

Finally for today this layout by Joanne, who decided to record our recent Mad Scrappers Christmas night out to Lumley Castle:

Another lovely layout (not sure about that photo though - lol).

Thanks for sharing with us ladies.  I will be back tomorrow with some more layout ideas using this month's kit.  In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Prima: Cartographer

I also have on order some of these really popular size A4 patterned paper pads from Prima - this one is 'Cartographer' and will be available to order next month:

Each paper pad has 16 patterns - 3 sheets of each (48 sheets) - so plenty to share if you want to keep the cost down!.

Another product to co-ordinate are these fab SIIC (Say It In Crystals):

More fab bling to add to your stash!  I am getting really excited now as all these lovely products should be making their way to us soon.  In fact there are so many gorgeous ranges coming out from CHA that I am really spoilt for choice on what to stock.

Is this range your cup of tea?  Leave a comment to let me know and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw.  To qualify only comments left today will qualify (see rules).  Thanks for stopping by.

Teresa Collins: Collection Kits

Followers of this blog will know that I am a big Teresa Collins fan - I just love what she designs.  I wasn't disappointed with the brand new releases from CHA this Winter.  She has 3 new ranges out and they are:

Daily Stories

Save the Date

Hello My Name Is

I love them all but my favourite is 'Hello My Name Is' - I can see that combined with one of those fab 'Flip Books'.  Here is a video of Teresa with one of those Flip Books (she used Daily Stories on hers):

Which collection is your favourite and why?  Leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.  Thanks for stopping by.

Prima: Stationer's Desk

I know I showed an earlier sneaky peek from this range by Prima but now I can show in more detail.  Here are just a few of the lovelies in this range, which I will be stocking in the shop:

These are the fab brads that co-ordinate with this range.  Just check out what you get for your pennies: 8 x Sugar Dots; 2 Canvas Banners with Pearl Brads; 20 x Metal Brads that co-ordinate with the collection.  In all - 30 pieces!  I just love those canvas banner brads.

This is the gorgeous Say It In Crystals (SIIC) range - 32 self-adhesive stickers that also co-ordinate with the Stationer's Desk patterned papers.

This is one of the clear stamps that are available in this range.  On top of this I also have the full range of 'Stationer's Desk' patterned papers and they are all due into stock February sometime (hopefully sooner rather than later).  In the meantime - feel free to drool!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Don't forget to leave a comment.

Ranger: Mini Ink Blending Tool

Look what Ranger have brought out - this fab set of 'Mini Ink Blending Tools' (due in around March time).

Mini Ink Blending Tool 1" Round (Includes 2 Tools and 4 Foams). The Mini Ink Blending Tool features a round foam applicator that is perfect for applying inks and paints into small areas. Featuring the same full-sized handle, the Mini Ink Blending Tool can be stored in the Craft Spinner for easy and convenient use. The round foam applicator is the perfect tool to apply inks and paints through stencils. With 2 tools and 4 foams, creative colour possibilities are endless. Replacement Foam is available in a 20 piece pack and is sold separately.

I absolutely love these as they are just so perfect for those smaller areas you want to ink.  I wouldn't be without my regular sized Ink Blending Tool but will be getting some of these to add to my collection.

I hope you are enjoying my little 'snippets' of what's hot and coming our way from CHA?  Leave a comment on what you think about today's little reveal.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Prima: Wire Thread

Another new line that Prima has out from CHA this Winter is their 'Wire Thread'.  It's available in several colours and I have opted for Ink Black and Stark White to start with.  This colour combination is featured very strongly this year across many manufacturer's ranges.

Ink Black Wire Thread

Stark White Wire Thread

There are 25 yards of thread on each roll and they come in a matte finish.  I will be stocking this product in the shop (due in sometime in February) and I think it may even make an appearance in one of our Mad Scrappers Kits!

There are loads of lovely products coming from CHA this Winter and I already have ideas for the March and April Kits (ordered them even!).  I won't say too much as I will spoil the surprise for the club members.

I know wire thread may not be a new product to some people (jewellery makers spring to mind) but I can honestly say I haven't used this on a scrapbook page before.  Have you used this product before?  Leave a comment to let me know and if a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

Prima: Lace Stickers

Just thought I would show you the fabulous 'Lace Stickers' that Prima have brought out this Winter at CHA.  There are six 'Doily' designs - here are 3 of them:

Doily #1

Doily #3

Doily #6

There are also Lace Sticker 'Words' and 'Labels':

Family Words

Lace Labels

These are on order and due in sometime February - can't wait!  I love this time of year when all the new products start filtering in from CHA as it feels like Christmas every time I open the delivery box!

What do you think of this Lace Sticker range?  Leave a comment to let me know and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for this month.  Thanks for stopping by.

Nissan Show

As usual a very busy show at Nissan, Sunderland yesterday.  It was lovely to catch up with my customers - new and returning.  Thanks to all who came along - I appreciate your support.  As promised, some photo's of the day.

Before the doors were opened I took some photo's of the stand.  Apologies for the blurry photo (the lights shining on plastic covers causes a problem).  This is a display of my new La De Dah products, which can be found HERE.

I always have a mix of new and (end of ranges etc.) patterned papers - so bargains and new products in the paper lines:

I also made a display of the Sticker Accent Sheets I sell.  These are always popular as you always need alphas!  See them all HERE.

Finally, a photo of some of my customers - DH took this on his mobile when I was busy serving a couple of ladies (I think I spy Jan and Glynn!):

I am starting to get sorted now but as I sold a lot of products yesterday the website won't be up-to-date for a couple of days until I manage to update the stock levels.  I also started with horrible cold/flu symptoms late yesterday afternoon and today I feel awful (lucky for me it wasn't yesterday).

I hope we see more blog followers in the next few days, as I advertised the blog candy giveaway yesterday and there was plenty of interest!  Thanks for stopping by today.  As usual, if you are a blog follower and you leave a comment on today's post (today only) I will enter your name into the draw for this month's fab candy.  Best of luck.

It's showtime!

It might not be up to CHA (Craft & Hobby association) standards but the first Ross Papercraft Show kicks off the new year at Nissan Sports & Social Club, Washington Road, Sunderland today at 10.00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m.

If you live in the area or wish to travel to the show - you won't be disappointed.  There are loads of different retailers only happy to assist you with your crafty needs.  There are plenty of demonstrations as well as people eager to help you with any crafting queries you may have - just ask.

I look forward to seeing my returning customers as well as some new ones.  Just stop by and say hello - I will be happy to see you.  I will take some photo's and post them tomorrow for those of you who live too far away to come along.

Thanks for stopping by today - have a lovely Sunday.

More Mad Scrappers Club Layouts

I have more Mad Scrappers Club layouts to show today using this month's kit of Jenni Bowlin/Echo Park patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and co-ordinating Element Stickers.

Beryl created this lovely layout using the kit contents and adding in some tiny butterflies.  What a fab match for your photo's Beryl!

Anne D used school photographs to create this lovely layout using the kit patterned papers and Element Stickers Sheet.  Perfect kit for your lovely photo's Anne.

Sue used the kit to create a fab layout using four photographs to a page.  There is another page (still under construction) that completes this double layout.  Lovely photo choices Sue.

Janice used this month's kit to create this lovely layout depicting a day out to the Farne Islands.  Love the butterfly in the middle Janice drawing the eye to both of the photo's.

Thanks for sharing with us ladies.  I know some of the members had layouts that they were still working on, so hopefully, I will be able to show those another time.  In the meantime leave a comment to let me know you have passed by this way.  If you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for the candy.  Thanks for stopping by today.
