Christmas Advent Kit Workshop

Today is our Workshop (Yipee!) and we will be creating with one of those fabulous Tando Creative Christmas Advent Kits.  The kit includes all you need to create a unique Christmas Advent Countdown that you can use year after year.

The kit includes 2 circular panels in sturdy greyboard (even the circles are retained).  There is also a pointer, numbers and embellishments to complete - all you need is materials to colour and adhesives to stick it all together.

This is how I completed mine but there are loads of other colour options you can choose.

This is how Di from Tando Creative finished hers using a green colourway - fabulous!

Looking forward to seeing what the ladies create with their kits - photos on the blog next week.

I will be back tomorrow with the winner of the Blog Candy and the prize up for grabs in December - can't wait.  See you then and thanks for stopping by today.

Club Layout: Eileen

This layout is from Eileen (a Mad Scrapper!) - well a club member really.  This layout is from last month's kit when the members got the chance to play (I mean create) with Teresa Collins Memorabilia patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock, corsage pins and an American Crafts Marker Pen.

The photograph was a perfect choice to cut into sections and looks fab!  The 'Snippets' patterned paper provided the arrows, words and icons around the photograph.  A really lovely layout Eileen - thanks for sharing with us.

The October Kit is available (is limited stock) and you can find it HERE.

Leave a comment for Eileen on this post today and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Ross Papercraft Show Dates 2014

Ross Papercraft have announced their show dates for the first half of 2014.  There are 3 venues that are close enough for me to attend and they are:

January 12th: Nissan Sports and Social Club, Washington Road, Sunderland, SR5 3NS

April 27th: Seaburn Centre, Whitburn Road, Seaburn, Tyne & Wear, SR6 8AA

June 22nd: Rainton Meadows Arena, Mercantile Road, Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne & Wear, DH4 5PH

The Seaburn Centre is a brand new venue for next year.  The full list of the other dates and venues can be found on their website at www.rosspapercraftshows.co.uk

These are always popular shows and only cost £2.00 per person entry with under 16's (accompanied by an adult) FREE.  There is usually FREE parking at these events also - so fabulous value for money.

I will update all shows for the remainder of the year that I will be attending once they have been confirmed.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Layout: Be Humble ...

This is another layout using patterned papers from Prima 'The Optimist' range.  This month's Mad Scrappers kit contains a selection of patterned papers from this range along with co-ordinating cardstock and some Prima La Tiza chalkboard Flowers & Leaves.

For this layout I used 'Magnitude' patterned paper from The Optimist collection (used both sides), along with Bazzill White and Blush Red cardstock.  I embossed both flower and leaf and just added a heart shaped gem in the centre.  The title is cut from the 'You & Me' patterned paper.

This paper range co-ordinates perfectly with a wide range of photographs - I especially thought the 'Magnitude' pattern very apt for school photographs.

Prima 'The Optimist' range can be found HERE.  Prima La Tiza Flowers and Leaves can be found HERE.

Layout: Don't Forget to Smile

Another layout using Prima 'The Optimist' patterned papers from this month's Mad Scrappers Kit.  The kit also contains Bazzill cardstock in White, Aqua and Blush Red (medium), along with a selection of Prima La Tiza chalkboard flowers and leaves.

I used 'Happy' patterned paper for the base of this layout and added some Crafty Impressions Lace Border along the top edge.  I added more of the Lace Border along the bottom edge of each photograph as well.

The title and other elements (tag, today and cut out flower shape) are all from 'You & Me' patterned paper.  All I added was a fabric flower from my own stash to create the embellishment in the top right hand corner of the layout.

The full range of Prima 'The Optimist' patterned papers can be found HERE.  The Crafty Impressions Lace Border pack can be found HERE.

Thanks for stopping by.  Leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.

Christmas Present idea

It gets more difficult each year to buy presents for loved ones.  Why not give a gift that you have made yourself?  Tando Creative have some truly fabulous clocks that can be made up to your very own design and this makes the present so much more special.

The Printer Tray Style Clock is always one of the best sellers at the craft shows I attend and these can be adapted to make a variety of different clocks:

This is one I made a while ago (and still ticking along nicely).

The same clock but made in a lovely 'girly' theme.
Or how about this one (created by Annette - a club member).

There are no rules when it comes to decorating this clock - it just needs a bit of imagination.  You can find the 'naked' chipboard version HERE.

How would you decorate this clock?  Leave a comment to let me know and I will enter your name into the blog candy draw (if you are a follower).  Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Shopping in York

I would have loved to have added the word 'New' to the above title but unfortunately, the budget doesn't stretch to that, so instead I went shopping with my two daughters in York yesterday.

We didn't get to stop at the Chocolate Story like last year but we stopped here for breakfast (well we did get the 07:35 from Newcastle!).

Then lunch here:

For a toasted sandwich and a cuppa!

After a really busy day shopping we headed to Pizza Hut for our tea.  A busy day but with lovely company the day went really fast.

Thanks for stopping by today.

I love this range of patterned papers and once again it is just perfect for those 'male' layouts and projects.  On Stephanie's Blog Spot you can see more ideas - find them HERE.

Authentique Layout

I was looking around some of the manufacturer's blogs this week and came across this fab layout by Shellye McDaniel over on the Authentique blog.

Shellye has used patterned papers from the Authentique 'Natural' range and the post even gives a tutorial on how to make chevron arrows.  Check it out HERE.

This paper range is ideal for those male layouts we all find so difficult to do.  You can find the full range of Authentique 'Natural' HERE.

What layouts or cards do you find most difficult to do?  Leave a comment on this post today and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into this month's draw for the blog candy.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Club Layouts: October

Last week Beryl brought along to the Mad Scrappers Club night a couple of layouts she had completed using last month's scrapbook club kit of Teresa Collins 'Memorabilia' patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock, corsage pins and an American Crafts Galaxy Marker.

Her photograph is just perfect for this patterned paper choice.  Good use of the American Crafts white pen Beryl.

Another night out captured in a layout (apologies for the glare on the bottom photo).  Thanks for sharing your lovely memories with us Beryl.

Leave a comment for Beryl today and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for this month's blog candy.  Thanks for stopping by.

Club Layouts: Janice & Edna

Today I wanted to share with you layouts created by club members Janice and Edna.  Using Prima 'The Optimist' patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock in Aqua, White and Blush Red (medium), along with Prima La Tiza Flowers and Leaves, this is what they created.

Janice created this lovely layout of a photograph of her parents - it just suits the Prima paper choice so well.  The addition of the Blush Red hearts just makes this layout 'pop'.  Thanks for sharing Janice.

I love how Edna has made this layout so special by adding the wedding invitation to the page.  The addition of some 'bling' adds some sparkle and again the use of the Blush Red cardstock just makes the page 'pop'.

This layout is by Edna also and is created using Prima 'Perfect' patterned paper.  I love the use of the different sized photographs that are just made for this paper design.  Thank you for sharing such special memories with us Edna.

The Prima patterned papers can be found HERE.

Please leave a comment for Janice and Edna and of you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for this month.  See rules.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Club Layouts: Beryl & Anne D

Today I am featuring layouts created by two more ladies from our Mad Scrappers Club.  Beryl and Anne used this month's club kit of Prima 'The Optimist' patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and Prima Chalkboard Flowers and Leaves.

This layout from Beryl using the patterned paper choice in conjunction with that beautiful photograph is gorgeous.  I think the phrase 'LOVE' just says it all.  Thanks for sharing with us Beryl.

This layout from Anne D uses the same Prima 'The Optimist' patterned paper but uses two photographs.  I love how Anne has used both co-ordinating cardstock colours on this layout and the use of the flower and leaves in the centre draws the eye to the photographs.  Another lovely creation - thanks for sharing Anne.

Prima 'The Optimist' patterned papers can be found HERE.  The Prima 'La Tiza' Chalkboard Flowers and Leaves can be found HERE.

Club Layouts: Julia & Linda P.

Another two layouts today featuring creations from Julia and Linda P.  The patterned papers are from Prima 'The Optimist' range, co-ordinating cardstock and Prima Chalkboard Flowers and Leaves.

Julia went for a distressed look on this layout, adding some phrases with the white Galaxy Marker Pen.  An interesting choice of photographs - love it!

Linda added some hand-drawn swirls to her layout and added some 'bling' by adding some colourful gems.  I like the use of the leaf for your title Linda - brilliant!

The Prima patterned papers can be found HERE.

Thanks for sharing ladies.  Leave a comment for Julia and Linda on this post today - they would appreciate your comments.  Thanks for stopping by.

Club Layouts: Kate

Today I am featuring a couple of layouts from Kate, who is a member of our Mad Scrappers Club.  November's kit contains patterned papers from Prima 'The Optimist' Collection, along with Bazzill cardstock in white, aqua and Blush Red (medium).  The technique this month was using Prima Chalkboard Flowers and Leaves.  This is what Kate did with hers.

I love the hand drawn edge around the patterned paper and matted photographs as well as the Chalkboard Flower and Leaves -fab!

Kate used a sketch from Scrap365 for this layout (from a design by Helen Wallace, Dec/Jan 2013, p42).  I love how you have flipped the sketch to suit your patterned paper choice.  The washi tape and arrowheads just add that final touch - lovely!

The Prima patterned papers can be found HERE.

Thanks for sharing with us Kate.  Leave a comment on this post today and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for this month.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Max & Jack

Another layout I have created using patterned papers from Prima 'The Optimist' range.  This time I used 'Focused' (the reverse side) as it was more suited to my layout.

I added some circles to the background using a Tando Creative Circles Mask and Ranger Paint Dabber in Snowcap.  I matted the small photograph onto one of the journal type cards from the 'Perfect' patterned paper, then matted this onto White and then Aqua cardstock, before adding some circles around the outer edge using 'Perfect' patterned paper (reverse side).

As it was a boy layout I didn't want to over embellish the chalkboard flower and leaf, so I just marked around the outside of the flower with a White Galaxy Marker Pen and added a button to the centre.  I stamped the phrase 'Extreme Boy' onto the leaf using a chalk ink pad.  The other elements are from last month's kit (cut from Teresa Collins 'Memorabilia' Snippets patterned paper).

The Prima 'The Optimist' paper range can be found HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today.  If you leave a comment and you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the blog candy draw for this month.  Rules apply.

LOVE

This is a layout I created using the fabulous Prima 'The Optimist' range of patterned papers.  As I mentioned yesterday, I used the equally fab Paula Pascual Phrase Die 'LOVE' as my title on this layout.

I used Bazzill Blush Red (medium) cardstock for the photo mat and the embossed hearts.  The flowers and leaves have been embossed too and are Prima Chalkboard Flowers and Leaves (in this month's Mad Scrappers Kit).

I embossed the phrase 'LOVE' and used double-sided foam tape to apply to the side of the photograph to give some dimension to the layout.  The large hearts have been added using double-sided foam tape also.  The patterned paper is called 'Bloom' and although lovely, I decided to use the reverse side, that has this lovely hand-made style chalked design in the bottom left hand corner.  All Prima 'The Optimist' paper range can be found HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.

Paula Pascual: Phrase Die

I just love this new die I bought to use at the Mad Scrappers Clubs.  It is by Paula Pascual and I have used it twice already on layouts using the fab Prima 'The Optimist' patterned papers - some are featured in this month's club kit.

It is a phrase die 'Love' and being a Bigz Die means I can use different textures other than paper to create titles, subtitles or even use it for other projects (wouldn't it look gorgeous in a frame!).  As these dies can cut textures such as cork, canvas, cardboard etc., the ideas when using this die are endless.  I have cut mine out of cardstock and embossed it and added it as a main title in one layout and as part of the decoration in another.  I will reveal all in good time!

The first of two Mad Scrappers Clubs is tomorrow, so looking forward to that as I haven't seen the ladies in this first club night for 5 weeks (far too long).

Do you have a die that you like to use often?  Leave a comment to let me know and I will enter you into the draw for the blog candy.  Rules apply.  Thanks for stopping by.

House Shaped Advent Calendar

New stocks just arrived of the Tando Creative House Shaped Advent Calendar.  A fabulous house shaped advent calendar with 24 drawers, 12 on each side of the house.  Instructions are included.  It is supplied flat but easily slots together.  It is laser cut from sturdy 2250 micron greyboard.  The drawers are laser cut and scored from 750 micron board, simply fold and glue the tabs.

Once assembled it looks like this - all you need is to paint, ink or finish it in whatever medium you want.  You will need these to finish off the drawers:

These are Tando Creative Minis - Advent Numbers that just add the finishing touch to the Advent Calendar.  I decorated mine like this:

One side (with odd numbers) - the roof covered with a tile effect Christmas paper (from last year).

The other side (with even numbers) - the roof covered with a lovely red swirl patterned paper.

You can find the House Shaped Advent Calendar HERE along with the Mini Advent Numbers.  If you buy both together you can save money!  The RRP for the House Shaped Advent is over £21.00 and the Mini Advent Numbers £2.40 but you can buy both for £19.99.

Sneaky Peeks: November Kit

This month's Mad Scrappers Kit consists of a selection of Prima 'The Optimist' patterned papers along with White, Aqua and Blush Red (medium) cardstock.  The technique this month is using Prima Chalkboard Flowers and Leaves.

Sneaky Peek 1 of what I did with the Prima Flowers and Leaves - using the white American Crafts Pen from last month's kit. I ran the pen along the outside edge of the Prima Flower and added a small button (from my own stash) to the centre.  On one of the Prima Leaves, I stamped the words 'Extreme Boy' using a chalk ink pad (from a previous kit).

Sneaky Peek 2 of what I did with the Prima Flowers and Leaves - using an embossing folder and the BigShot.  I embossed both the Flower and the Leaves and added a touch of chalk ink around the outside edge for definition.  I added a large brad from my own stash to the centre.

I will fully reveal both layouts later in the month after both of the Mad Scrappers Clubs (last one is on 27th November).  Thanks for stopping by today, please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.
