All I want for Christmas!

In a shop the other day, I overheard a woman and a small child talking about Christmas.  The conversation went something like this - woman: when daddy asks 'what does mummy want for Christmas - tell him some lovely sparkly nail varnish and some red lipstick', to which the little child replied 'I will mummy' I had to smile.  I smiled even broader when I saw the child was in fact a small toddler of no more than 3 years old.  I wanted to say to her - forget it, when she gets home the sparkly nail varnish and lipstick will probably be replaced by something much more mundane like 'mummy says she wants some new pans and some red socks' - we all know what kids are like.

Over the years I have learnt by experience - if you want something specific for Christmas - just tell them, otherwise it won't materialise on Christmas Day.

I am lucky enough to have two grown up daughters who always ask (on the quiet), what would you like for Christmas so I can tell Dad.  I never really ask for much but I have realised that if I don't say something I end up with presents that cost a fortune and never see the light of day.

This year is different.  I have actually seen something that I really want (but wouldn't buy myself) and in the big scheme of things doesn't cost an arm and a leg!  So just to ensure that I don't get sparkly nail varnish or red socks - this is what I would really, really like.

If you are reading this dear daughter - not necessarily this particular set (I will leave that to your discretion) but even one of the above items would be very gratefully received.

Do you end up with presents that are expensive but never see the light of day after Christmas Day itself?  Do you make a list?  Leave a comment to let me know and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw.  Draw for the Halloween goodies will take place tomorrow.  Good luck everyone.

Mad Scrappers Layouts: Eileen

This is a layout from Eileen (one of our new members) using September's Club Kit of MME Kate & Co. Oxford Lane patterned papers, White, Navy and Lime Crush cardstock, Acetate sheet and a StazOn Midnight Blue Ink Pad.

I love the clean fresh lines of this layout and the butterfly made from acetate is absolutely gorgeous - well done Eileen on having a go with the stamping on acetate and creating this fab layout.  Thank you too for sharing with us.

If you leave a comment for Eileen and you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for this month.  Not long to go now before I draw for the fab Halloween themed giveaway.  Best of luck everyone.

Mad Scrappers Layouts: Karen F.

Using this month's Mad Scrappers Club Kit of Teresa Collins Memorabilia patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock, corsage pins and an American Crafts white pen, Karen F. created this layout depicting a photograph of her 40th Birthday Cake.

I love how Karen has used the poker chips from her cake on her layout - a lasting memory of a special birthday.  Karen added some red/white dotted patterned paper and red bling that goes perfectly with the photo of her cake.  Fab layout Karen - thanks for sharing.

Please leave a comment for Karen and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy.  This month's candy will be drawn on 1st November.  Good luck!

Mad Scrappers Layouts: Annette

Spooky goings on at the Mad Scrappers Club last Wednesday (well on Annette's table anyway), when she created this layout using this month's kit of Teresa Collins Memorabilia patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock, corsage pins and an American Crafts pen.

I spy good use of the American Crafts white pen, using it to add her title 'Count Woofula' and some fab swirls.  I love the addition of the chipboard Tando Creative Skeletons from the Pair of Skeletons pack available HERE.  Another great idea on how to use this kit.  Thanks for sharing with us Annette.

Please leave a comment for Annette to let me know you have passed by this way.  Thanks for stopping by.

Sail

This is the full reveal of the second sneaky peek I posted a few weeks back.  Using the Mad Scrappers Club Kit of Teresa Collins patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock, corsage pins and an American Crafts white pen, I created this layout.

I used the black cardstock as the base (gutted out the middle) and layered this with the Damask patterned paper.  Using a 6" x 4" photograph - I cut this into 2" strips and matted the strips onto black cardstock.  I cut images from the Snippets patterned paper (matted them first onto some of the Beach cardstock) and using double-sided foam tape (for dimension), arranged them around the outside of the matted photograph.  The cork arrows and wooden cameras are from a previous kit.  I made the rosette using a Sizzix Die and the BigShot (one of my favourite dies ever!).  I added 2 of the corsage pins to the rosette and added my title to finish.

I have the Teresa Collins patterned paper collection kit in stock and you can find it HERE.  The Andy Skinner Mask is out of stock at the moment but email me if you would like one as I have them on order.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Leave a comment and if you are a follower of this blog you will be entered into the draw for a chance to win the fab Halloween goodies up for grabs this month.  Good luck!

Age is just a Number

This is the full reveal of the first sneaky peek I showed a few weeks ago using this month's Mad Scrappers Club Kit.  The kit contained Teresa Collins Memorabilia patterned papers - Snippets, Damask and Chalkboard with co-ordinating cardstock in White, Beach and Black.  I added in a pack of Teresa Collins Memorabilia Corsage Pins and an American Crafts Galaxy Marker Pen in White.  I used a sketch from Scrap365 Sketch Challenge (October) to create this layout.

I used the white cardstock as the base (gutting out the middle) and layering with the Chalkboard patterned paper.  I used an Andy Skinner Mask and the white pen to add the numbers on the chalkboard paper before layering with the doilies and adding the photograph and cards from the Snippets patterned paper.  The title was created using the white pen and the Andy Skinner Mask.  The ribbon on the journal card is from the actual dress itself (the thin ribbon that you cut out before wearing).  I added one of the gorgeous corsage pins to the 'Age' title card to finish.

The Teresa Collins Memorabilia Paper Pack can be found HERE.  The Andy Skinner Mask can be found HERE.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.

Pins & Needles: Final Day

The final day of the Pins and Needles Show at Newcastle Racecourse was very busy with a mixture of paper crafters, sewers, knitters etc., all looking for ideas.  I have received some amazing comments over the past few days:

"Wow" - from a lady on Friday when she entered my little shop and saw all the decorated chipboard pieces I had made.

Another comment (my favourite):

"I feel I have died and woken up in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory".

I got loads more lovely comments and met some really lovely people - thank you so much for your support.  My DH managed to remember to take some photo's via his mobile whilst I was busy with the customers.

Here I am chatting away with one of the ladies from the Mad Scrappers Club.

A wider view image of the shop and some of the lovely people who attended the Pins and Needles Show.

I have put some more images on my Facebook page if you want to have a look there.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.

Pins & Needles: Day 1

Yesterday was the first day (of three) at the Pins and Needles Show, Newcastle Racecourse.  Thanks to everyone who came over and said 'hello' - new and returning customers.  I appreciate your support.  I was very happy to hear the remarks of everyone who came over to my little shop and especially the reaction to the Tando Creative Christmas Advent and the Advent Shaped House.  I showed you yesterday the 'naked' chipboard Advent Shaped House - well this is what I did with it:

This is side 1 - decorated by spray painting the inside of the house with gold glimmer paint.  The house sides and roof were covered with some Prima Christmas paper (North Country Collection from last year).  The little boxes were painted with red and white acrylic paints (the gold ones with the spray paint).

The other side has a different patterned paper for the roof - two little house looks for the price of one!  Side one has the twelve little boxes (odd numbers) and side two has the even numbers.  All ready just to add some little Christmas treats.

A photograph of the Christmas Advent in situ at the show.

Part of the shop at the show.

I will take some more photographs and post them tomorrow.  Remember, if you are going - pop over and say hi.  Thanks for stopping by today.

I meant to take some photographs but was so busy setting up - I forgot!  Will definitely take some tomorrow and post with the House Advent.  Thanks for stopping by.

MME: Record It Antique

Following on from yesterday's post when I showed the fab new MME Antique Record It! Album Starter Kit - well today I am showing you what is also coming our way from this range in the form of this fabulous Paper and Accessories Kit:

The kit contains 6 sheets of 12x12 double-sided cardstock paper and a co-ordinating sticker accessories sheet.  This is what designer Jen Allyson has to say about this collection:

"With Lost & Found Record It, I wanted to create two collections that had a very romantic feel. I've been dying to create a "black & white" set of papers and embellishments. To me, black & white is the most elegant of combinations, and so perfect for a line like Lost & Found. Of course with Lost & Found, the whites are going to be beautiful creams and aged tans, and the blacks are going to be warm grays and deep rich blacks. I love antique silver glitter, and was able to create a glitter blend for this line that has that old-world glass glitter look to it. To me, the whole line is absolute perfection."

Looking forward to this range coming into stock - will keep you posted.  Thanks for stopping by today - please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.

Layouts from Club Members

Last month Beryl created this layout using the kit containing MME Kate & Co. Oxford lane patterned papers and co-ordinating cardstock.  The technique was stamping on acetate using a StazOn Ink Pad.  Although some of the members gave this technique a go, Beryl decided against it for this layout.

These papers are perfect for boy layouts (they can be so hard to do) and I love this layout showing a 'first day at school' - great photo choice Beryl!

Sometimes, members like to just finish off projects that they might have started at home or at a previous club night and this is what Gillian did when she created another page in her Fancy Pants Brag Book.  She chose some of the patterned papers from the fab new range from Authentique called 'Natural' to create this page.

These fabulous patterned papers can be found HERE.  I also spy some Glitz Design Arrows Washi Tape that can be found HERE.  Another lovely page completed Gillian!

Thank you so much ladies for sharing your layouts with us.  Please leave a comment for Beryl and Gillian and to let me know you have passed by this way.

More Mad Scrappers October Layouts

Using this month's Mad Scrappers Club kit of Teresa Collins Patterned papers from the Memorabilia range, co-ordinating cardstock, corsage pins and an American Crafts White Galaxy Marker - this is what some of the ladies created:

Julia created this layout using the Chalkboard patterned paper from the kit.  Julia added some coloured card from her own stash to add a splash of colour to her layout.  The names have been added using the white marker pen - fab!

Sue has created this layout using 3 photographs depicting a retirement presentation.  She has created her own little 'star' embellishment (in top right hand corner) to co-ordinate with the stars printed on the paper - great idea Sue!

Adding her own patterned cake papers and embellishments, Linda P. created this fun layout using one of the papers from the kit as the background.  Lovely cakes Linda - home made?  Thanks for sharing with us ladies.  This is what makes creating in a club so much fun, so many great ideas to share.

Please leave a comment for Julia, Sue and Linda today.  If you are a follower of this blog and you leave a comment, you will be entered into the blog candy draw for this month.  Best of luck.

Mad Scrappers Club: Layouts

This month's Mad Scrappers Club kit consists of patterned papers from Teresa Collins Memorabilia range, co-ordinating cardstock, Teresa Collins Corsage Pins and an American Crafts Galaxy Marker in white.  Last night was the first of two club nights this month and this is what a couple of the ladies created using the kit:

Using the 'Snippets' patterned paper and some cork arrows (from a previous kit), Linda L. created this lovely layout.  Adding that dash of bright pink is inspirational!

Brenda B. created this fab layout using the same layout idea but adding her own special touches:

Brenda just needs to add her journaling to complete.  Two lovely layouts ladies - thanks for sharing with us.  More from the Mad Scrappers Club night tomorrow.

Please leave a comment for Linda and Brenda - it would be very much appreciated.  Thanks for stopping by today.

For this layout I used the 'Damask' and 'Snippets' patterned papers, along with the Teresa Collins Corsage Pins, some little wooden camera shapes and cork arrows (from previous kits).  Another layout that I loved creating - this one came together so easily!  I will have more details on what I did when I do the full reveal later this month.

Limited Edition: Andy Skinner Masks

Andy Skinner in collaboration with Tando Creative has brought out two fab Masks (for those with a darker side!) - great for Halloween!

'Doll Face'

'The Reaper'

These Masks are only available until the end of December - so if you want one you can get them HERE.  I know they won't appeal to everyone - I find the Doll Face rather scary but in the right hands this could look spectacular (or should that be spooktacular!).  Andy Skinner does fab things with these masks - pop over to his blog HERE and check it out - you will be amazed.

Leave a comment so that you can be entered into the draw for this month.  Incidentally, the draw ends on 31st October (still can't get Blogger to change the date on the rules).  Thanks for stopping by today.
