Sneaky Peek #2 using DT Kit for February

This is the second layout I have created using February's DT kit - full reveal week beginning 11th February.  Using cardstock as the main background for this layout, I created a page using very little patterned paper and instead used the Ranger Distress Ink Pad and a template to add some interest to the page.

This layout took me out of my comfort zone as I am so used to using patterned papers and using several different patterns to layer up.  Do you venture from your comfort zone when crafting or do you stick to what you are comfortable with?

Sneaky Peek #1 using DT Kit for February

This is the first sneaky peek I am showing you of one of the layouts I have created using this month's DT kit.  The kit contains patterned papers from Fancy Pants 'The Good Life' and using a Ranger Distress Ink Pad in Peacock Feathers.

I used both patterned papers on this layout and added a journal card made from some canvas sheet (from a previous kit).  The patterned papers are quite bright and busy but the reverse side of 'Labeled' is a very light pattern and I used that one on my next layout - sneaky peek tomorrow.

Full reveal and details on what products I used will be shown week commencing 11th February.  Leave a comment to be entered into the draw.  Please see rules to qualify.  I appreciate you spending the time to stop by.

The DT Kit for February

For February the Design Team member this month Jules and myself will be creating with patterned papers from Fancy Pants 'The Good Life' called Tokens and Labeled, with cardstock in Aqua, white and Dotted Swiss Pepper (black).

The technique is using one of the new shades of Ranger Distress Ink Pads in Peacock Feathers, which is a lovely Jade colour:
I will be showing some little sneaky peeks tomorrow and Wednesday of the layouts I have created using these papers, card and ink pad.  I will do the full reveal the week of the scrapbook club date (beginning Monday 11th February).  Any surplus kits will be available to purchase from The Scrapbook Garden shop and will include details on how to put together all of the layouts shown on this blog using the kit contents.

If you leave a comment on this post today (and you qualify) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

Camera Trend!

One of the trends to emerge from CHA 2013 is 'cameras'.  There are patterned papers with cameras, stickers, rub-ons, stamps and wooden embellishments!  I thought I would show you a few of the ones that caught my eye.

Bo Bunny Mama-razzi2 is a camera themed range and here are two patterned papers from that range that I have on order for a future kit:

Mama Razzi

Contrast

Prima have some fab wood camera icons that would co-ordinate beautifully with these papers:

Have you used this trend for cameras on any projects?  Leave a comment on what you think about this trend and I will enter your name into the draw (if you qualify).  You must be a follower of this blog to qualify.  Thank you for stopping by.

Scrapbook Day in March

A few times a year (3 this year), I host a scrapbooking day, which is usually made up of ladies who attend my scrapbook club (on a Wednesday evening once a month).  The next day is going to be in March before Easter (which is early this year).

Thinking of new things to make during these days isn't a problem as there are loads of 'off the page' ideas as well as the popular mini books.  This time I decided we should tackle a mini book with a difference and along with the fab new Teresa Collins 'Far and Away' collection pack, we will be creating with a 'Basically Bare' album (approx. 8" x 8").

The brand new Teresa Collins 'Far and Away' collection pack includes 9 pages of 12" x 12" double-sided textured cardstock weight patterned papers along with a 12" x 12" double-sided die-cut cardstock accessories sheet.

The 'Basically Bare' album consists of heavy weight chipboard covers, double-sided corrugated board page, stiffened white felt page, heavyweight chipboard page, heavyweight unbleached canvas page and a flexible acrylic page.  These mini albums are bound with spiral binding, which can be loosened to be disassembled and reassembled.  Loads of lovely textures to be played with!

I am really looking forward to that one!  Have you tried your hand at one of these 'Basically Bare' books?  Do you like creating with mini albums?  Leave a comment on this blog to let me know and if you are a follower, I will enter your name into the draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

Prima: Engraver Stamps

As well as the fab new range of patterned papers in 12x12, A4 and 6x6 sizes - Prima also have some lovely Clear Acrylic Stamps to co-ordinate with this range.

This is Engraver #1

This is Engraver #2

Both stamps retail at £1.99 each and represent excellent value for money from a prestigious brand such as Prima.  I must admit to not using many stamps on my scrapbooking pages but I can see me using Engraver #1 as a background stamp on my layouts.  These stamps along with the patterned papers, Say It In Crystals (featured yesterday), Washi and Fabric Tape, will be in stock sometime this month or early February - can't wait to get my hands on this lot!

Nissan Show - January 2013

Thank you everyone who braved the cold yesterday (not quite snow yet!) to attend the first Ross Papercraft Show of the year at Nissan, Sunderland.  It was a good turn-out for this time of year and I met up with loads of customers and made some new ones.

It is always lovely to meet my customers 'face-to-face' as being an online shop I miss that social aspect of selling and these occasions give you that chance.  Here is one of the photo's I took of part of my little shop:

I decided to showcase the new Photo Freedom System from Echo Park, available to buy from The Scrapbook Garden.  This easy way of scrapbooking is designed to introduce crafter's who want to try scrapbooking but are afraid to take that first tentative step and those who want to create some scrapbook pages quickly. The range comes with 'Designer Photo Sleeves' and patterned papers from 'Carta Bella' that work with the Photo Freedom System.

Teresa Collins: Stationery Noted

Teresa Collins is a favourite designer of mine and she hasn't disappointed with her new ranges out this month.  One of my faves is 'Stationery Noted' and I particularly love these two patterns from that range:

This one is called 'Poppies'

This one is called ' Polaroids'

Along with these fab patterned papers she has a load of gorgeous embellishments in the shape of chipboard buttons, file folders, 6x6 pads, borders, garlands, envelopes, photo corners, decorative tape, brads, enamel dots, flowers, stamps, stickers, die-cuts, sticky notes, notebooks, chipboard and a collection pack.  Whew!

These are the Chipboard Buttons

I am so impressed with this range - I think this maybe the DT Kit for May!  I am way ahead of myself with kits this year as there is so much loveliness to choose from.

Ross Papercraft Show - January 2013

It's that time of year again!  Another round of Papercraft Shows kicks off early with the very first one of the year at Nissan Sports and Social Club, Sunderland on Sunday 13th January 2013.

Ross Papercraft Show will also be at The Sports Arena @ KC Stadium, Hull on 20th January and at Don Valley International Stadium in Sheffield on 27th January.

The Scrapbook Garden will only be at the Sunderland show this January and I will be providing a 'Pick up at Show' option as usual.  This entails, ordering online and either paying online or opting to pay at the show on the day.  To get this facility just choose 'Pick up at Store' option when you check out.  It is the perfect way to get what you want and to save on postage costs.

I am offering this option until midnight tonight - after this time I will be busy with last minute show preparations and will be unable to provide this service.

Looking forward to seeing everyone as usual - please stop by and say hello!  Leave a comment today on this post and you will be entered into the draw for the blog candy.  Please see rules to qualify.  Hope to see you on Sunday.

Design Team: Win Win

For this layout, Jaqi has used a resist technique using the Ranger acrylic paint dabber and Distress Inks on the tag.  As the acrylic paint is permanent once dry it becomes resistant to any distress inks that are applied over the top.

For the main body of this layout Jaqi has used Echo Park 'For the Record 2 - Documented' Doily patterned paper (reverse side), along with some small triangles of 'Borders' patterned paper (reverse side) for the corners.

Jaqi has used a piece of Intense Kiwi cardstock, which has been embossed with a Bingo card image and given a distressed look using the paint dabber.  The other 'Bingo' card is from the 'Borders' patterned paper (reverse side).  Catch up with Jaqi's blog here.

Using the same DT kit I have showcased four different layouts with techniques using the acrylic paint dabber.  I hope the past four days have inspired you to get your dabbers out and start painting!

Please leave a comment and I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Rules apply.  Thanks for stopping by.

Design Team: Time Flys

This is the first layout from Jaqi using this month's DT kit.  Jaqi has used the Nautical Blue cardstock as the base for this layout and has used Echo Park 'For the Record 2 - Documented' Borders patterned paper (used reverse side), which has a more vintage feel to it.

Jaqi has used a clock mask with the paint dabber to create that fabulous clock print on the layout.  The clock hands are chipboard, which have been painted with the acrylic paint dabber.  I have something similar in Tando Creative Clock Mask and chipboard clock hands available from The Scrapbook Garden shop.

The Ranger acrylic paint dabber is suitable to use on foam and rubber stamps, canvas, corrugated card, chipboard, metal paper and even on fabric.  It is permanent when dry.

Jaqi will be back tomorrow using another technique with the paint dabber, so pop back then.  You can get more information from her blog here.  If you leave a comment on this post I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy (rules apply).

Big Hug

This is the second layout I have created using this months DT kit.  Using white cardstock as the base, I layered this using Echo Park 'For the Record 2 - Documented' Doily patterned paper (used reverse side).

I used a Crafter's Workshop Template and the Intense Kiwi cardstock to create the shaped layer and I have used the paint dabber to create the pattern on the outer edge.

I layered a strip of 'Borders' patterned paper across the layers and added my matted photograph.  I made embellishments from the 'Doily' patterned paper by adding a felt flower, button and gems.  The title is made from American Crafts DIY Thickers.  The DT kit can be found here.

Jaqi will be showcasing her layouts starting from tomorrow using techniques with the paint dabber.  Pop back then to see what she has come up with using this kit.  If you leave a comment on this post today and you qualify I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

The Nativity

This is the first layout I have created using the January DT kit.  The kit contains patterned papers from Echo Park 'For the Record 2 - Documented', cardstock in Nautical Blue (medium), Intense Kiwi and white.  The technique this month is using a Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabber in Snowcap.

I used the Blue Nautical cardstock for the base of this layout and layered up using white cardstock and strips of 'Borders' patterned paper.  I used the paint dabber to create the snowflakes (using a Tando Creative Snowflakes Mask) and to create a border for the middle of the layout.

I used American Crafts DIY Thickers for the title and added some gems from my own stash.  The kit contents can be found here.

If you leave a comment on this post today I will enter your name into the blog candy draw (if you qualify).  Thank you for stopping by.

Prima Engraver Washi & Fabric Tape

I showed you the Prima Engraver Collection kit yesterday and today is the turn of the fab Engraver Washi and Fabric Tape that co-ordinates with this patterned paper range.

Each pack contains 5.5 yards of Washi Tape and 1 yard of Fabric Tape.  Depending on what embellishments you choose to add, this range could be used for either Male or Female projects.

As well as Masculine and Feminine projects, try using this range for other occasions such as Weddings or travel and holidays.  I will have the Washi and Fabric Tape in stock this month sometime.

Prima Engraver Paper Pads

As well as loose sheets of patterned paper in their brand new 'Engraver' collection, Prima has also released the same range in 6" x 6" pads, A4 pads and a 12" x 12" Collection Kit.

The collection kit contains 16 double-sided patterned papers, 1 Type and Tab Sheet and 1 Journal Spot Sheet.  All perfectly co-ordinated and all in one paper pad!

There is also the 6" x 6" pad that is a perfect size for cardmakers (although you can make scrapbook pages from this size).  The A4 size pads are also very popular as it accommodates both cardmakers and scrapbookers alike.  All sizes will be available from The Scrapbook Garden shop soon (due in around the middle of this month).

Design Team Kit - January 2013

This month the DT Kit includes patterned papers from Echo Park: For the Record 2 - Documented and co-ordinating cardstock. The technique this month is using a Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabber.

The kit contents are:

1 x Doily patterned paper, 1 x Borders patterned paper (both are double-sided).  1 x Nautical Blue (Medium), 1 x Intense Kiwi and 2 x White cardstock.  1 x Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabber in Snowcap (white).

Jaqi is the DT member, along with myself that will be creating with the DT kit this month and I will have the layouts for you to see on the blog next week.

I do have a couple of DT kits available to buy in the shop here.  The kits contain value for money products as well as instruction sheets with ideas for scrapbook layouts.

Tim Holtz: New for 2013

Looking around the Internet for what's going on in the craft world I came across a post by Tim Holtz giving a 'sneak peek' on what to expect from him in the next release in 2013 - so here goes!

Tim has released a brand new paper stash (with salvage stickers to match) based on "French Industrial", which Tim explains is inspiration from "ornate handwriting, vintage ephemera, European imagery, old photographs, nostalgic colour palette with a touch of steampunk."  He further explains that the "paper is subtle enough for the shabby vintage crafter and ready to distress for the grungier crafter."

There is some fabby stuff coming our way from the Man himself but I particularly love these Industrious Stickers:

These are made from embossed cardstock with an amazing aged metallic finish!  As well as an 8x8 collage stash ("perfect for card makers and mixed media crafters"), there are Wooden Ruler Bindings complete with drilled holes, bolts, washers and wing nuts - use them to create a mini tag book!  Well I'm hooked already and this is on the first day of the sneak peeks from him - where will it all end?  To see these fabulous items for yourself just click here and prepare to be amazed!

Leave a comment on what you think about these brand new releases due in the shops around January time (maybe February if you live in the UK).  Thanks for stopping by today.

Glitz Design: Uncharted Waters

The Glitz Design girls have been busy designing another three ranges to be released in January at the CHA (Craft and Hobby Association).

I love the 'Uncharted Waters' range as it is perfect for those holiday layouts.  This range also has those adorable 'Roller Doodles' and I particularly like the 'Anchors' one.

The following are my favourites from this range:

This one is called 'Bits & Pieces'

This one is called 'Scallop'

This one is called 'Anchors'

'Anchors' Tiny Roller Doodle

If you let me know what you think about this range by leaving a comment on this post (today only) and you are a follower of this blog, I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by today and good luck!
