Calendar 2013: June

My eldest granddaughter is 18 in June - I can hardly believe it.  Time really does fly!  For June's layout on my calendar, I have opted for a photograph of her taken over 17 years ago.

I used Bazzill Dotted Swiss Sandbox for the base and added a strip of patterned paper from Authentique 'Gathering' collection, which I found in my craft box of left over paper pieces.  The title, lambs and other embellishments are from some Nitwit 'In the Meadow' Toppers that were also in my craft box (left over from a previous project).

Another page cpmpleted in my 2013 Calendar.  The pages don't take that long to do but once they are all finished I will have a lasting reminder for each month next year.

Calendar 2013: July

For the July page in the calendar, I kept with the same theme as yesterday and used Carta Bella 'Happy Little Moments' patterned papers and Element Stickers Sheet.

This time I used 'Moments' paper from the range and used the reverse side for the background.  I added a border strip from the Element Sticker Sheet across the bottom of the layout and added a sticker (Documented) from the same sheet.

I added the letter 's' to the journal card to read 'All Girls' and adhered this using double-side foam tape to add dimension without too much bulk.  I did the same with the arrows and other sentiment (Perfect Moment).

It is important to keep embellishments quite flat because otherwise if there is too much bulk the calendar doesn't hang right once finished.

Calendar 2013: May

This is the month of May of my 2013 Create a Calendar.  The photograph is quite dark, so I wanted to keep the background and page elements fairly light, so chose a selection of patterned papers from the Carta Bella 'Happy Little Moments' range.

I used 'Happily Ever After' patterned paper (reverse side) for the background and used one of the sentiments from the same sheet of paper for the title (You are Simply Perfect).  I added two border stickers across the bottom of the background paper from the 'Element Stickers' Sheet.  The other sentiments (Joy, Smiles, Best Buddies) are also from the Element Stickers Sheet.

Calendar 2013: March

This is the page I created for March for my 2013 Calendar.  I am making up the calendar as and when I decide on what photographs to use, so they will be in no particular order when I post them.

For March I used Cosmo Cricket 'Art Angel' Hope patterned paper against a light cream background (cut to 11" x 7").  I rounded the corners of both paper and cardstock.  I added the photograph and used sentiments from Cosmo Cricket 'Art Angel' Sticker Sheet.  To give some dimension to the page, I added the stickers to some co-ordinating card and adhered using double-sided foam tape.

I cut a strip of patterned paper from the 'Hope' paper and adhered over the printed text at the bottom of the calendar page.

A close-up of the page.

Calendar 2013: December

Regular visitors to this blog will know that I am hosting a scrapbooking day in December for a group of ladies at a local Church Hall.  We will be creating layouts and making a start on pages for our 2013 'Create a Calendar (from the Paper Mill).  As each calendar will be unique to everyone, I thought I would share the pages that I have made so far with you.

The calendar starts out life like this:

Using patterned papers and die-cut accessories from the Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage Kit, I created this mini layout on the page for December:

I have made a 'background' for my layout cut to 11" x 7" and will use these measurements throughout the calendar so there is consistency.  I like to create a background for each page rather than just create straight onto the calendar as this makes it more like a scrapbook page.

I created the mini trees from banner die-cut shapes from the accessories sheet included in the kit.  All the sentiments and journal card are from the sheet also.  I covered the printed details on the bottom of the page with matching patterned paper as I think this looks neater.

Leave a comment on this post today (and if you qualify) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

Sneaky Peek 2

Following on from yesterday's post - this is the second sneaky peek using the fabulous Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage kit I will be using at the Christmas Scrapbooking Day next month.

This layout has been created using photographs taken with a Polaroid Camera (instant camera photographs for you who are not old enough to remember them!).  Obviously I cannot show you the full layout with photographs until after 8th December but what you can see is some little Christmas Trees made from banners from the accessories sheet.

There are loads of sentiments, banners, journal cards/spots to choose from and this kit would be just great for creating a mini book ready for all those lovely photographs you are going to take of Christmas Day this year.

If you leave a comment on this post today (and you are a follower of this blog), I will enter your name into the draw for your chance to win the candy.  Draw takes place on Christmas Eve.  Thank you for stopping by.

Christmas Scrapbooking Day: Sneak Peek 1

As promised, this is the first little sneaky peek of one of the layouts I have created for the Christmas Scrapbooking Day I am hosting in December.

The kit we will be using is Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage, which contains 9 sheets of 12x12 double-sided textured cardstock papers and a 12x12 double-sided die-cut cardstock accessories sheet.

As always, Teresa Collins delivers the goods.  These papers are fabulous quality and the range of patterns are great for Christmas layouts but there are several that can be used for other occasions.  The colour pallette is traditionally red and green but the red is more of a burgundy colour and therefore is suitable for vintage layouts as well as modern photographs.

The 'sneaky peek' shows part of the title from a layout I made using a photograph of my youngest daughter (nearly 30 years ago), not quite vintage!  I will do the full reveal after the scrapbooking event on 8th December.

Thanks for stopping by today.  If you leave a comment, I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy (see rules that apply).  Best of luck!

Monthly Kit Subscriptions

Next year I am considering opening the Design Team Kit on a subscription basis.  I already run a monthly scrapbook club, supplying kits and instructions and would like to expand this concept to other scrappers.  To give you an idea on what the contents are - look back over the past few months to see what you can get in the kits.

The November Kit is available to buy (in limited quantities) but I can supply kits on a monthly basis to clubs, groups of friends or as a single kit. This is what we will be using as the DT Kit/club kit in January:

The kit contains: Echo Park: For the Record 2 - Documented (Doily, Borders), Bazzill Cardstock in 1 x Nautical Blue (Medium), 1 x Intense Kiwi, 2 x White.  The technique is using a Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabber (Snowcap).

The cost is £7.50 for the kit and postage is £2.50.  There will be discounts on the postage for orders of 6 kits or more.  Each kit will also contain written instructions for layouts as well as different ideas on how to use the monthly technique.

At the present time this is just in concept form only and I am looking for interest.  If I get enough people wanting to buy the kits I will add them to The Scrapbook Garden shop on a 2-monthly subscription basis, paid in advance, via PayPal.

Thank you for stopping by today.  If you leave a comment on this post and you are a follower of this blog I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.

November Kit

The Design Team Kit for November is now available to buy from The Scrapbook Garden shopSome months I may have excess kits and I will put them in the shop to purchase, along with the instructions for all the layouts featured on this blog using the kit.  The price of the kit is what you would pay individually for all the items if bought separately with the bonus of instructions sheets that are added to the kit free of charge.

The kit contains patterned papers from Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' range (Floral, Motif), along with Bazzill Cardstock in Maraschino, Admiral and Vanilla Cream.  There is also a roll of Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' Washi Tape as well as the instruction sheets.

This is a limited edition kit and would be ideal for anyone who is just starting out scrapbooking or anyone who would like to do a few layouts fairly quickly.

Christmas Scrapbooking Day

I am hosting a Christmas Scrapbooking Day in December for the ladies from my scrapbook club.  It will be the last time we meet until next year!  We are going to be busy creating layouts and making pages for our 2013 calendars.

Here is the kit we will be using:

The fabulous Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage Collection Kit, which includes 9 sheets of 12x12 double-sided textured cardstock paper and a 12x12 double-sided die-cut cardstock accessories sheet.  The Bazzill Cardstock match for this paper range is Pomegranate and Ivy.

We will also be using a blank 'Create a Calendar' from Paper Mill Direct and will be creating some pages for that as well, to either give as a gift or to keep for ourselves!

I will be starting on the layouts for the scrapbook day shortly and will post some sneaky little peeks for you to see beforehand and do the full reveal once the scrapbooking day is over.

Chocolate Bar York

As part of the Chocolate Story at York there is also a 'Chocolate Bar', where you can get a fab selection of chocolately things!  After a hard days' shopping, there is nothing nicer than to sit down and have something chocolate!

First savour the surroundings:

Then study the menu:

Then make your selection:

Not an easy task with choices such as 'All Day Chocolate Breakfast', 'Ultimate Chocolate Fondue', plus an amazing choice of chocolate desserts and cakes.  I chose the 'House Hot Chocolate', which is pictured above.  It consists of Indulgent House Hot Chocolate (plain, mint, orange or chilli flavour) with whipped cream, served with marshmallows and shortbread biscuit.  They only use real dark Belgian chocolate made with 70% cocoa solids to make the House Hot Chocolate - yummy!

Chocolate City!

A little escape from the crafting world today ... off to York with my two daughters Christmas shopping and taking in some serious chocolate shopping/tasting!

Where to start first!  York is famous for it's chocolate and has several chocolate attractions dotted around the City centre.

The famous chocolate trail itself starts at York Cocoa House, a recreation of York's 17th Century Chocolate Houses and takes in several famous landmarks within the City Centre before finally ending in King's Square at a new visitor attraction - CHOCOLATE at York's Sweet Story.

Other Connoisseurs chocolate stops along the way are York Cocoa House, Florence Wren, Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms, Bettys Stonegate, Hotel Chocolat, Giftag Chocolate Box, Hairy Fig, Melton's Too, Chocolate Heaven, The Chocolate Bar at CHOCOLATE - York's Sweet Story and Monkbar Chocolatiers.

We simply can't stop at all of these - can we?  Will post back tomorrow to see how we got on.

Design Team: 'Do the Hippy Hippy Shake'

This is the final layout (and my personal favourite) by Design Team member Jules using this month's kit.  The kit this month consists of Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' patterned papers, Bazzill Maraschino, Vanilla Cream and Admiral cardstock, with 'Yours Truly' Washi Tape as the technique.  The photograph is of Mojo (a little star!)

Using  Bazzill Vanilla Cream cardstock as the base, Jules has cut six circles randomly on the page using her Martha Stewart punch all over the page paper punch.  Pieces of Floral and Motif patterned papers were added behind the cut-outs and lots of punched circles in various sizes were added along with some of the Washi Tape made into circles.

Further details can be found on Jules' blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

Thank you for stopping by today.  Leave a comment for Jules and I will enter your name into the draw (see rules).  Best of luck everyone!

Design Team: 'Poop-Poop!'

This is the second layout created by Design Team member Jules using the November kit.  The kit consists of Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' patterned papers (Floral, Motif), Bazill Cardstock in Maraschino, Vanilla Cream and Admiral.  The technique this month is using Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' Washi Tape.

Jules used Bazzill Vanilla Cream as the base and added some black ink splatters in the middle and strips of Washi Tape to the top and bottom of the cardstock.

The photograph has been matted onto layers of Floral paper, tulle and a strip of Motif (reverse side).  The stamp, chipboard tag and button is from Jules' own stash.  The title is made from American Crafts DIY Thickers (Sprinkles), which have been coloured to co-ordinate with the layout.

Further details on how Jules put this layout together can be found on her blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

Design Team: Leafy Mattress

Jules is the DT member creating with this months kit consisting of  Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' patterned papers (Floral, Motif), Bazzill cardstock in Maraschino, Vanilla Cream and Admiral.  The technique this month is using Washi Tape from Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' range.

Jules has used Bazzill Admiral cardstock as the base for this layout and layered this up with a piece of Motif patterned paper (reverse side).  She has added Washi Tape to the top and bottom of the patterned paper and then layered this with some of the Floral patterned paper, which has been torn to reveal the Washi Tape underneath.

Jules has used a doily as the mat for her photograph before adding her title.  the title is made from American Crafts DIY Thickers (Sprinkles), which have been inked to match the layout.

Further details can be found on Jules' blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

Snowman Christmas Cards

I was asked to make two Christmas Cards for my Mother-in-law for two of her close friends.  She wasn't very specific - just they had to be personalised!  Regular visitors to this blog will know that I don't really make cards as I love scrapbooking and off-the-page projects too much, but seeing as I was asked nicely - how could I refuse!

This first card I made with Bazzill Cardstock and patterned papers from The Scrapbook Garden shop and a Snowman decoupage sheet from House of Zandra.  I used Bazzill Pomegranate and Ivy cardstock and Bazzill Believe 'Modern Poinsettia' patterned paper.  The snowman image is decoupaged but it is difficult to see from the photographs.

The second card I made using Bazzill cardstock in Ivy and Blackbird and patterned paper and decoupage sheet from House of Zandra.  The corner punch is from Dovecraft and is available from The Scrapbook Garden shop.

I used the decoupage images from House of Zandra as I was at a recent craft show at Gateshead Internation Stadium and they were selling all their lovely decoupage sheets and templates.  If you leave a comment today on this post and you are a follower, I will enter your details into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

More about Photo Freedom System

I have had several lines of enquiry about the Echo Park Photo Freedom System I posted about yesterday.  I have since found a video made at the last CHA in the Summer that shows you what you can do with this system and you can find this here.

There are six sheets of double-sided papers in the Carta Bella 'Happy Little Moments' collection and if you click on this link here it will take you to the full range, to see both sides of the papers.

I have the full range of 'Happy Little Moments' patterned papers in The Scrapbook Garden shop (reduced if you buy them as a complete set with the sticker sheet).

Thanks for stopping by today.

Echo Park Photo Freedom System

I mentioned a while ago that I had on order the Echo Park Photo Freedom System and now it is in stock!  There are also patterned papers and stickers available that are compatible with this Photo Freedom system and they are from Carta Bella (Designed by Carina Gardiner).

The 'Happy Little Moments' range consists of 6 double-sided papers that are compatible with the Photo Freedom range as they are easily cut to the sizes of the photo sleeves, therefore making scrapbooking pages easier to plan.  There is also a 12" x 12" Sticker Sheet with some fab stickers that co-ordinate beautifully!  The range is perfect for newbies to scrapbooking as well as for those times when you just want to do several pages really quickly - or even if you are having a 'block' deciding on a page layout - it happens to the best of us.

The paper and sticker range can of course be used on their own and hopefully I will showcase some layouts soon on that range (the things I have to do eh!).

Leave your thoughts on what you think about this range - would you use it?  Do you think it is a good idea?  Can you think of a friend who may like this concept?  Leave your comment as usual and if you are a follower I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

Just smile .... Sweetly!

This is the final layout I have created using this month's Design Team Kit.  The kit contains patterned papers from Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' range, Washi Tape and Bazzill cardstock in Maraschino, Vanilla Cream and Admiral.

I used Bazzill Kraft Cardstock (extra to the kit) for the base.  I layered this with a section of Bazzill Maraschino cardstock (gutted from the middle of a previous layout - waste not want not!).  I made 3 circles using my Martha Stewart Circle Cutter from 'Yours Truly' Floral patterned paper and Vanilla Cream Cardstock.

I used the striped Washi Tape as a border around the Maraschino Cardstock and also made a little flag from the tape and added it to the paper flower as an embellishment.  The title I made on the computer and printed it out on Safmat, then added it to some off cut of Kraft cardstock, before attaching with double-sided foam tape.

SIX

I wanted to scrap this lovely photograph of my niece but I just couldn't seem to find the right patterned papers - until the November DT Kit came along.  The kit contains the fab Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' patterned papers Floral and Motif, along with the co-ordinating 'Yours Truly' Washi Tape.  Bazzill cardstock in Vanilla Cream, Maraschino and Admiral complete the kit contents.

For this layout, I used Bazzill Admiral as the base (gutted out the centre to use on another layout), layered this up with the reverse side of the Motif patterned paper.  I added some little dots around the outside of the patterned paper and I kept the design simple by cutting out 2 banner shapes from the Motif patterned paper and 2 banner shapes from the Washi Tape.  I made the word SIX from some corrugated card, cardstock and patterned paper (by drawing around some big chipboard alphabet letters).  I added two red heart buttons (from my own stash) to the corrugated cut out hearts to finish.   I added the date and will add some journaling at a later date.

If you leave a comment on this post (today only to qualify), I will enter your name into the blog candy draw if you are a follower.  Thanks for stopping by.

Nissan Show

Thanks to everyone who attended the Ross Papercraft Show on Sunday - another great day!  Apologies to those who wanted to buy the fab Tando Creative Cuckoo Clock and I had sold out - I will get some more for the January show.

I wanted to say congratulations to Pat who won vouchers to the value of £20.00 to spend at the show and spent them with me - thanks Pat!  Here is Pat receiving her vouchers.

The biggest seller I had at the show was the lovely Bazzill Believe Christmas patterned papers, followed closely by all things Tando (chipboard and masks).  The new Grace Taylor Albums are becoming another favourite with the scrapbookers also and I have completely sold out of the Paisley Floral Album.

That's the last show I will be attending until next year! Saying that, it seems ages away but the next show at Nissan, Sunderland is on Sunday 13th January and is only 10 weeks away! I am thinking of doing a one off show with Ross Papercraft on 1st June in Edinburgh - will keep you posted on that one.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I will post another layout tomorrow using the November Design Team Kit.  See you then.

Wonderful Copenhagen

This is the first layout I have created using the DT Kit for November.  The 'photograph' is actually a postcard that I bought when I visited Copenhagen a few years back.  The DT Kit this month contains Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' patterned papers, Floral and Motif, Bazzill Maraschino, Vanilla Cream and Admiral Cardstock and 'Yours Truly' Washi Tape.

I used Bazzill Maraschino for the base (and gutted out the centre to use on another layout), layering this up with Bazzill Vanilla Cream cardstock.  I placed the postcard where I wanted it and cut pieces of the patterned paper and 'Yours Truly' Washi Tape around the postcard in a block design (to copy the design of the postcard).

I cut a 'Fringed Flower' from a Sizzix Die from a piece of Floral patterned paper and made it into a rosette to add some decoration to the page.  The wooden button is from my own personal stash and the title is made from small alphabets (bought from Wilkinson), that I featured in an earlier blog post.

Thanks for stopping by today.  If you leave a comment on this post (today only) and you are a follower of this blog, I will enter your name into the blog candy draw - draw will take place on Christmas Eve!

This is what it looks like altogether:
