Only GIRLS allowed

Earlier in the week on this blog I asked what colour combinations you liked and got a variety of responses.  One colour combination that I like is peach and green and Cosmo Cricket have echoed this in their brand new range called 'Evangeline'.  I loved the colour scheme of this range when I first saw it as it combines these two colours with cream to make a lovely collection.

For this layout I started with Bazzill French Vanilla cardstock as the base (it is a very subtle cream and not as stark as white) and layered up using the reverse side of Cosmo Cricket Evangeline 'Dandelion' (which is a lovely peach shade) and strips from the 'Sashing' patterned sheet.

I made the flowers on the Big Shot using a Tim Holtz 'Tattered Florals' Alterations Die and added some buttons from my stash.  The title is made from MME Lush alphabet stickers in black and Prima Tiny Alphabet Stickers from the Printery range, which co-ordinate really well with this range.

As this is the final day to leave comments for this month's blog candy draw I just want to wish everyone 'Good Luck'.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Design Team: Jealous Girl

For this layout of her fab dog Mojo, Jules has used Bazzill French Vanilla cardstock as the base, layering this up with Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' patterned paper called 'Polka'.

The banners are made from the Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' range also - Polka, Stripe and Toile (using both sides).

The rosette is hand-made using the 'Pretty In Pink' Toile patterned paper with a Bazzill Die-cut flower (Black Tie) and Delish Design Peppercorn Sweet Brad in the centre.

Jules layered up 3 of the Bazzill flowers with another Delish Brad in the centre.  The Raven Tulle Ribbon is from Bazzill also.  The title is made from MME Lush chipboard alphabet stickers in black.  More information can be found on Jules' blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

Design Team: Fancy for 50

Jaqi made this Fancy for 50 card using Bazzill French Vanilla and Blackbird cardstock.  This was layered using Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' Toile (reverse side), to which Bazzill Tulle in Raven was added.

The number '50' is from the MME Lush chipboard alphabet pack.  Jaqi added her own flower, brads and sentiment.  For further details on this lovely card - see Jaqi's blog at www.jaqi-scrapbookinginmysleep.blogspot.com

If you leave a comment (and you qualify - see rules), I will enter your name into the draw for this month.  thank you for stopping by today.

Design Team: Time Canvas

Jules made this canvas using  papers from this month's kit.  I can spy some of the gorgeous Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' papers called 'Stripe' and 'Polka'.

The chipboard piece is a Tando Creative 'Steampunk Clock and Hands' and it has a Delish Design Peppercorn Sweet Brad in the centre.

The title is made from MME Lush chipboard alphabets in black.

A different way to use up all those little bits and pieces of left-over papers (that we don't call scraps!) and we definitely wouldn't throw away!

For more information on how Jules put together this little masterpiece - pop over to her blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

If you leave a comment (and you qualify) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Draw will take place on 1st April.  Thanks for stopping by today and the best of luck!

(16)

I was originally going to name this layout 'Sweet 16' but when I had finished there wasn't much room for the 'Sweet', so I decided on (16) instead.  Using Bazzill Avalanche cardstock for the base, I layered up using Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' Stripe patterned paper.  I used both sides.  One side is the lovely stripe of pink and white and the reverse side is the black stripe.

I made some side banners again for this layout and added a rub-on date stamp to one.  The large pink banner at the bottom will be ideal to add journaling to at a later date.  I cut a couple of flowers out on the Big Shot and added a Delish Design Peppercorn Sweet Brad in the centre (to add some bling!).  The title is made from MME Lush chipboard alphabet stickers in black.

The colour combination of pink with black works quite well together.  What colour combinations do you like?  Leave a comment (and if you qualify) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Best of luck - draw takes place on 1st April!  Thanks for stopping by.

Design Team: My Bella & Me

This is a lovely photograph of Jaqi when she was younger with her Grandmother 'Bella' in South Shields.

Jaqi has used the fab Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' Stripe patterned paper for the base of this layout and layered this up using Polka and Toile (used both sides).  Jaqi has matted her photograph onto Bazzill French Vanilla and Blackbird cardstock.

Jaqi added a rosette using some of the Bazill French Vanilla cardstock with Toile patterned paper in the centre.

Jaqi made a tag (using her own bicycle stamp) and attached it to the layout using a Delish Design peppercorn Sweet Brad.  The words (play, laugh, dream etc.) are cut from the Prima Edison patterned paper.  The title is from MME Lush cardstock alphabet stickers sheet (they go a long way!).  For further details on how Jaqi made this layout - pop over to her blog at www.jaqi-scrapbookinginmysleep.blogspot.com

Leave a comment and as usual (if you qualify) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Someone has to win it and it might be you!  Thanks for stopping by today.

Brand New Bazzill!

I  have had several new product lines this week. I shall kick of with the brand new patterned papers from Bazzill.  I just don't know why they haven't thought of this before!  They have brought out some fab Antique papers that include:
Antique Dictionary Paper

Antique Music Paper

Antique Newsprint Paper

Perfectly Pleated Newsprint

I also have some of the lovely 'Perfectly Pleated' in Newsprint, which are strips of cardstock Newsprint that has been perfectly folded into pleats and stitched (so you don't have to!).

So no more, ripping and tearing pages from old books (give them to the charity shop) to add that antique touch to your layouts and cards.  These are perfect!  They can be further distressed using inks and other mediums to give a truly aged look!

What do you think of this latest product line from Bazzill?  Do you use antique pages for your cards and layouts?  Leave a comment (and if you qualify - see rules) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

Design Team: (32)

Jules has created this layout using  Bazzill Blackbird Cardstock as the base, added some white paint and layered up using Prima Almanac Edison patterned paper (both sides).

Jules ruffled some of the Bazzill Tulle Ribbon (in Raven) to create a border, which she attached with staples and a Delish Design Peppercorn Sweet Brad.

The Tando Creative chipboard heart and wings were coloured in pink ink.

The Bazzill Black-Tie die-cut flowers were layered and a brad (as before) added to the centre.  The title is MME Lush chipboard alphabet stickers.  Further details on how Jules put this layout together can be found on her blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

If you leave a comment on this post today and you qualify (see rules) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw for your chance to win a fab MME paper collection kit.

Design Team: Uncle

Another one from Jaqi's fabulous range of family photographs.  This time Jaqi has used a photograph of (her Dad's) Uncle on his allotment and using Bazzill Kraft cardstock as the base has created this layout.

Jaqi used Bazzill Kraft Cardstock for the base and layered up using Prima Edison and Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' Polka patterned papers.  The flowers are Bazill Black-tie die-cut and the title is MME Lush chipboard alphabet stickers.  The elements are cut from the Prima 'Edison' patterned paper (except the chicken, which is Jaqi's own die-cut).  Further details can be found by popping over to Jaqi's blog at www.jaqi-scrapbookinginmysleep.blogspot.com

You Look Lovely Today

How lucky was I to find this perfect photograph to match this gorgeous patterned paper from Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' collection!  The title was already printed on the paper, so no need to think of anything else.  I used 'Ledger' for the base as it was the perfect background and added 'Polka' and the reverse side of 'Music' (hated cutting this up as it is gorgeous too) before matting the photograph on some white scalloped cardstock from my own stash.

As the challenge this month for the DT was to make their own embellishments I couldn't justify adding 'bought' embellishments to my own layouts, now could I?  I made the rosette (using the trusty Tim Holtz Die) and added some bling in the form of some little gems I found in my stash.  The elaborate swirl is made from 1 Pack of ZVA Creative Crystals (costing a mere £1.50).  The gems come in strips and I painstakingly cut each little gemstone from the sheet and added them to a swirl that I drew on the paper.  The result (even though I say myself) looks good for the price.

What little tips have you picked up over the years of crafting that you would like to share with us?  Each comment left (with a tip) will get 2 entries into the draw.  Thanks for stopping by today and remember to pop back tomorrow to see what delights Jaqi has in store for us.

Design Team: Precious

Jules has created this layout featuring her 'Precious' dog Mojo using  Bazzill French Vanilla Cardstock as the base then layering up with Glitz Design patterned papers (Polka and Stripe).

The flower is made by Jules using circles of patterned paper from the Glitz Design  collection and adding a Delish Design Sweet Brad to the centre.  The butterflies are made with a paper punch and Jules has secured them to the layout using a Tim Holtz tiny attacher.

For further details on how the flower was made - pop along to Jules' blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

If you leave a comment on this post (and you qualify) I will enter your name into the draw for your chance to win the lovely MME paper kit.  Thanks for stopping by.

National Scrapbooking Day 2012

The Scrapbook Garden are celebrating National Scrapbooking Day on the 1st Saturday in May (5th May 2012) with a day booked at a local church hall (1.00 - 6.00 p.m.).  The day lets you scrap with friends (or make new ones), join in the optional sessions using a kit to produce two layouts and to make one of those lovely little Desktop Storage Handbags (from Tando Creative).

Already the places are fully-booked (in just over a week - wow!) and I have now to think of what to do regarding the kit for the first optional session.  I have ideas a plenty - just need to see how many people want to join in before I start ordering products for the kits.

As well as the scrapping space for the day, there is also a light afternoon tea on the agenda as well as The Scrapbook Garden shop to buy some extra goodies you might want (I mean need!) on the day.

Have you any plans to celebrate this day?  Leave a comment to let me know and (if you qualify - see rules), I will enter your name into the draw.  I will keep you posted on what we get up to after the event.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to pop back tomorrow to see what Jules has created with this month's kit.

Design Team: Day Trip

Today, Jaqi has created another one of her vintage style layouts using a lovely photograph from her (seemingly endless) stash of family photographs.  I love these old photographs as they are part of our social history and should be cherished as Jaqi has by incorporating them into her scrapbook album.

For this page, Jaqi has used Bazzill French Vanilla cardstock as the base and Blackbird cardstock for matting and layering. The patterned papers used are Prima Almanac 'Edison' and Glitz Design Pretty In Pink 'Polka'.  The title is MME Lush chipboard alphas in Black.

Jaqi has hand-made her flowers using Bazzill Raven Tulle and Delish Designs Peppercorn Collection Sweet Brads.  If you want to see how Jaqi put this layout together - pop over to her blog at www.jaqi-scrapbookinginmysleep.blogspot.com

If you leave a comment on this post (today only please) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw - if you are a follower.  Thank you for stopping by.

Update on Ross Papercraft Show at Nissan

Firstly, a big thank you to all attended this show and came along to say 'hello'.  It is always lovely to meet my customers 'face to face', especially since I am an on-line business only.  Sunday's show was extremely busy and crafters were out in force!

As predicted, the Dovecraft Tea Party range of products were extremely popular and I sold out completely of the Twine and Doilies.  It always surprises me what tends to sell most at these shows as it changes each time I go.

Tando Creative Masks, were again a favourite with crafters as well as the Desktop Storage  Handbag (which I featured on this blog a while ago).   Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' paper collection sold well as did the two new Prima ranges of Almanac and En Francais.  The Almanac Buttons sold out too!

The next Ross Papercraft Show (that I will be attending) is on Sunday 24th June at Rainton Meadows Arena, Houghton-Le-Spring.

What's the best bargain you have ever bought at a Papercraft Show?  Leave a comment to let me know and I will enter your name into the draw (see rules to qualify).  Thanks for stopping by.

Giddy Up

Following on the challenge of making hand-made embellishments and using the Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' collection I created another layout using different patterned papers from the range.

I used Bazzill Kraft cardstock for the base, then layered this with Bazzill French Vanilla and then added Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' Toile (reverse side), which is a lovely pale pink.  I added side banners using strips of paper from the same collection in Toile, Roses, Polka - adding a stitched effect using an American Crafts Metallic Marker (in Rose).

The title is chipboard alphabet stickers from MME Lush range in black.  The rosette is made using the Tim Holtz Rosette Die on the Big Shot (another fave product!).  I drew faux stitching around the outsides of the pink paper and French Vanilla cardstock using the American Crafts pen (as before).  The edging along the bottom of the layout is from my own stash as is the button in the middle of the rosette.

If you leave a comment on this post (today only) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw (see rules to qualify).  Thank you for taking the time to stop by.

Design Team: Just Love Your Puzzled Look

Today it is Jules' turn to show what she has created for the DT challenge of making hand-made embellishments.  Jules used Bazzill Kraft Cardstock as the base and added some white gesso before layering up the Prima Edison patterned paper.

Jules made a flower for her layout using some Bazzill Tulle Ribbon in Raven to which she added a Bazzill Die-Cut flower and Delish Design Sweet Brad to the centre.  Here is a close-up of the hand-made flower:

The small alphas are cut from the patterned paper and the main title is made from MME chipboard alpha stickers.  Further details on how Jules put this layout together can be found on her blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

If you leave a comment on this post (today only to qualify) and you are a member of this blog, I will enter your name into the draw.  Thank you for stopping by today.

Design Team: SISTERS

The Design Team were given the remit of finding ways to make hand-made embellishments for their projects this month.  I made the layout yesterday using hand-made bunting and a toothpick flag.  Jaqi is next up with this layout using Prima Almanac patterned papers - Edison and Shaffer, Bazzill French Vanilla and Blackbird Cardstock.  The title is MME chipboard alphabet stickers in Black.  Jaqi added her own Petaloo Flower!

Here is a close up of the scroll that Jaqi made using a cocktail stick and embroidery thread.

If you leave a comment on today's post for Jaqi and you are a member of this blog (see rules), I will enter your name into the draw for this month.  For further details visit Jaqi's blog at www.jaqi-scrapbookinginmysleep.blogspot.com
Jules will have another idea for making hand-made embellishments tomorrow - pop back then.  Thanks for stopping by.

All Grown up & Loving Life

This month the Design Team were given the remit of creating projects using hand-made embellishments.  I loved the fab new Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' as soon as I saw it and couldn't wait to get started on some layouts using just paper and a few things from my stash to create my own embellishments.

I decided on Glitz Design 'Pretty In Pink' Roses and Polka (reverse side) for this layout.  I hand-made the toothpick flag and bunting to co-ordinate with the layout.  The 'toothpick' is actually a cocktail stick to which I added a flag shaped piece of co-ordinating 'Roses' patterned paper.

The bunting along the bottom of the layout is made from triangles of left over pieces of patterned papers and some string.  They are both easy to make and cost hardly anything as I had the other items in my stash.  The base card is Bazzill French Vanilla (a fave colour and a stash basic).

Leave a comment on this post today and (if you qualify) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Up for grabs this month is the equally gorgeous MME 'Love Me' paper collection kit.  Thanks for stopping by and good luck!

Making embellishments

From Monday, I will be featuring some projects using hand-made embellishments.  The Design Team (Jaqi and Jules this month) will be creating using patterned papers from the Brand New Prima Almanac Collection and Glitz Design Pretty In Pink Collection.  The challenge for the DT this month is to create layouts and other projects using the papers and other elements in the kit to hand make their embellishments.

There are loads of lovely embellishments that are ready made by manufacturer's but sometimes they can be a bit pricey.  With this in mind, I will kick start the week with a layout I have made using the Glitz Design Pretty In Pink patterned papers and by only adding a few items from my own stash, create a layout costing, well not very much at all.

On Tuesday I will feature a layout from Jaqi and this theme will continue throughout the month.    Leave a comment to say whether you prefer to make your own embellishments or prefer bought ones.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Titles for layouts!

Once you have been scrapbooking for a while finding a title for your latest creation can sometimes take more time than the actual layout did to create.  Scrapbookers use different methods to find unique and unusual titles other than the usual Family, Love, Sisters etc.
Song titles are sometimes a good source for layouts - I have used the Beatles 'Love me Do' on a recent layout as well as Westlife's 'Flying without Wings'.  Not all song titles however, are always appropriate!  Can you think of an appropriate song title for a layout and an inappropriate one?

Leave your comment and if you qualify (see rules - you MUST be a member of this blog and your details show on the followers list to the left) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  If you leave an appropriate song title and an unsuitable one, I will give you 2 entries into the draw.  That extra entry could make the difference to you winning the candy!

Best of luck and thanks for stopping by.

(XO) Layout

Another layout using the Scrapaholix Kit for March.  The technique this month is using the Viva Decor Pen with patterned papers from Basic Grey 'Kissing Booth' Collection.
I used 'Kiss' patterned paper, then layered this up with 'Heart Breaker' (used reverse side) and added a shaped piece of 'Exotic Orchid' cardstock along the bottom edge.  The flowers are Prima (e.line), which I have had for ages.  The leaves were cut using the Cricut.

I made a semi-circle using the Perle Pen (similar to previous lo) but this time I added some pearly buttons to add some extra interest and texture to the page.  All I have to add is some journaling strips (to the right hand side of the lo) to finish completely.

If you leave a comment on this post (today only), I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy to be drawn at the end of this month.  Rules apply.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Scrapaholix Club LO - Cutie

This month's kit from Scrapaholix is using the technique of a Perle Pen by Viva Decor with the latest Basic Grey patterned papers called 'Kissing Booth'.  I used the 'Heart Breaker' (reverse side) and 'Kiss' for this layout, using a template to shape both pieces before layering the photograph with Exotic Orchid cardstock from Core dinations.

I made a heart to make a base for the title, layering it up on some more of the patterned papers and cardstock.  The flowers, gems, ribbon and ribbon slider are from my own stash.  I made a semi-circle of 'pearls' to the left of the layout using the Viva Decor Perle Pen (in Creme).

Have you used this product before?  If you have what did you use it for?  If you leave a comment on this post (today only) you will be entered into the draw for the blog candy (see rules at left of page).  Thanks for stopping by.

Let's have a 'Tea Party'

I'm sure that in the Summer we will all be celebrating sometime with a 'Tea Party' (think Queen's Jubilee and street parties!) so when I saw this lovely new (and inexpensive) range from Dovecraft, I knew that it would be a popular buy.
This is the 8" x 8" Paper Pack (it also comes in 6" x 6" and 12" x 12").

This is the co-ordinating Twine

The pretty little adhesive buttons

Delicate Lace Doilies

Gorgeous Paper Lace Hearts

The 'Tea Party' collection is described as a "delightful craft range that showcases little cupcakes, lacy doillies, dinky tea sets and pretty flowers in a colour palette of pastel pinks, blues and greens".

My favourtie items are the Twine and those lovely paper doilies.  This seems to be a popular theme this Summer as Cosmo Cricket have a 'Tea' theme to their range also.  Anyhow, all this loveliness makes you think of long hot days, strawberries and cream, cricket (or tennis), and generally all things Summery.

What memories of the Summer does this range bring you?  Leave a comment and let me know and you will be entered into the draw for the blog candy - if you qualify.  Thanks for stopping by.
