It's a dogs life!

My daughter has a Weineramer called Obi and she sent me a series of photographs she took whilst on a recent walk. I love this photo as it looks almost 3D with the berries on the bushes in the foreground, the dog drinking out of a puddle in the rock and hills in the background. It could almost be a painting and I thought I would share this with you. I am sure I can 'scrap' this when I find the right papers! TODAY'S QUESTION: In the gallery in The Scrapbook Garden shop I have images of two scrapbook layouts of this dog. What are the titles of these layouts?

FIRST PERSON to give me the correct answer to today's question will have their name entered into the draw for the BLOG CANDY.

'I Do' - layout using Love Nest papers

I have created this layout using Glitz Design 'Love Nest' patterned papers and again, used a wedding photograph to show how lovely these designs are. I started the layout using Bazzill Blackbird (12" x 12") as a base and cut a sheet of Bazzill Bling 'In the Pink' down to 11" x 11" and stuck this on top of the black cardstock. I cut two circles (using a small plate and saucer) from two patterned papers from the range. What was left over from the pink patterned paper - I cut a strip and matted this onto black card and stuck this to the black and pink card base. Before adding the circles - wrap a piece of Bazzill Tulle ribbon (Tink Pink) around the strip (of patterned paper and black card) and adhere at the back of the layout. Once the circles are in place, mat the photo onto a piece of patterned paper that is left (it will be slightly smaller but this is ok) and stick this down onto the layout.

The embellishment flower was cut from the patterned paper and the 'hearts' were cut on the Cricut (they are actually heart tags). I decided to 'sew' the hearts onto the page and I used some scrap ribbon I had in my stash and created little 'kisses' (cross stitches really!). The date embellishment is from Delish Designs menu cards (I have some in the shop) and I cut the centre out and matted it onto a circle of patterned paper. I used some liquid pearls in the centre of the flower embellishment and added 'I Do' in the form of glitter stickers.

TODAY'S QUESTION: What are the names of the two patterned papers I used from the Glitz Design Love Nest range?

Good Luck! and thank you for stopping by. I would love to have your comments on the layout as well!

A Wedding Invitation

This is a quick and simple card using the off-cuts of patterned paper left over from my previous two scrapbook layouts using the Glitz Design Hoopla range of papers. I used Bazzill Avalanche (white) Cardstock for the base of the card (6x6) then I matted the patterned paper onto Bazzill Blackbird Cardstock. Before you adhere it to the white card, wrap a length of Bazzill Raven Tulle around the matted paper and card and tie in a knot at the front as shown. Place a paper flower with a brad for the centre over the knotted ribbon and secure through the matted paper and card. Stick to the front of the white card and add your sentiments. I used Safmat to make my sentiments then it was matted onto white and then black card.

TODAY'S QUESTION: What is the name of the patterned paper (from Glitz Design Hoopla range) that I have used in the above card called? How much does it cost for a sheet of this paper at The Scrapbook Garden shop?

Please note that ONLY the FIRST PERSON to get this answer correct in the comments box attached to this post will be entered into the draw. Good Luck!

More loveliness on order!

Just thought I would share with you some more lovely patterned papers I have on order (delivery due in March) from Glitz Design. I don't think the images really do these papers justice! Judging by the ranges I have in stock at the moment (Hoopla and Love Nest) from this manufacturer - the 'real thing' is much better than the photo's. The above images from 'Afternoon Muse' are soft muted shades and remind me of summer - perfect for those lovely summer layouts!

This second range called 'Love Games' is centred around black, white and red colourways - luscious! I love these colours as they are so versatile.

Both ranges of the patterned papers will be available at The Scrapbook Garden (hopefully middle of March time).

For more 'sneak peeks' have a look at the Glitz Design blog link on right-hand side of page.

Another layout using those FAB Glitz Design papers!

Here is another layout using those fabulous patterned papers from the Hoopla range from Glitz Design. I chose another wedding theme for this layout - mainly because of the beautiful wedding cake already printed on the paper! Another thing I love about this range is the colours - they are delicious!!For this layout I used the aptly named Hoopla Cake and Hoopla Frames patterned papers from this range. I also used a sheet of Bazzill Blackbird card, some Bazzill Raven Tulle (I love this product!), a Delish Design journal card (mounted onto some Frames patterned paper and black card) and a lovely limey green brad (from my personal stash). I added my title (using Safmat again) and added the couple's name and month/year of the wedding.

I hope you like my efforts - please leave a comment to say you have been in the blog!

Layout using Glitz Design Hoopla

I have been wanting to create something using the beautiful Hoopla patterned papers from Glitz Design for a while now but have not had any time to do so. I have used only 2 papers from this range (plus a sheet of Bazzill Blackbird) to make the following layout - very frugal of me! I used Hoopla Pipework for the base, Hoopla Floral for the gorgeous 'cut out' section to the left of the layout and the other side of this paper to mat the photo, along with the Bazzill card.

I have added some Bazzill Raven Tulle ribbon along the bottom of the layout as well as making a flower base for the Bazzill Bitty Blossoms (I used both the Neutrals and Garden Mix) to compliment the predominately black and white layout. I confess to using some bling (don't I always) in the form of glitter to the large flowers in the 'cut out' section. I used the colours Lime and Crystal in the glitter.

The title is made from Safmat (I absolutely LOVE this product!) - you can just make any titles, in any size, font or colour that you want (you need a computer as well) and it is almost undetectable once on the paper (it works better with patterned papers). The circle 'date stamp' is actually a journal card from Delish Designs (I cut out the circle and matted it onto some of the Hoopla Floral paper).

I have made another 'Wedding' layout using this paper range but I am waiting for a photo to add to it.

I have got the fabulous Love Nest range to try next - watch this space!

Boldon Club January Layout # 2

This is the 2nd layout I have created using the Scrapaholix kit for January. The patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket are so diverse that I managed to make two 'school photo' layouts look completely different. On this layout I used the 'borders' and 'elements' sheets to create a more colourful layout. The red rosette embellishment in the lower right of the layout is in fact four of the circles cut from the patterned paper and decoupaged to look like a bought embellishment. I added a little bling (as I do) in the form of a pearl flower (taken from a larger pearl embellishment from yesterday's layout).

This technique actually makes you think outside the box so to speak and not to just use the borders and elements as they are but to think more closely what you can achieve with them by cutting into them and layering and decoupaging them. A nice, easy technique to start 2011 with!

Boldon Club January Layout # 1

Boldon Scrapaholix Club starts again tomorrow and this is the first of two layouts I have created using the kit, which consists of Cosmo Cricket patterned papers. The technique this month is using Elements and Borders from the same range as the patterned papers. To create this effect from the patterned paper, I gutted the middle and cut around the circles to create a frame. I matted the photo onto black card and the other patterned sheet, (which is double-sided) and placed 'within the cut out frame' to create the above effect. I added the word 'Tradition' cut from the border sheet and decoupaged some shapes and added them to the left hand side of the layout (adding some colour). I added a Prima Pearl element to add a bit of bling. The tag was cut from the Elements sheet to which I added a pearl brad and a little black bow.

I will post my other effort tomorrow.

New Year - new start!

New Year - new Start! How many of you out there have made New Year resolutions and have broken them already? I try not to make them as I usually make ridiculously unattainable ones that don't get off the ground.

I hope everyone has settled back into the 'routine' of working life and have managed to get some crafting done?

I created these two layouts before Christmas but didn't have time to show them - so here they are.

These layouts were to demonstrate 'stamping' to class members. In the first one, I used (MME) So Sophie 'Botanical Blue' Patterned Paper and cut into the right hand corner of the paper (to overlap it onto my photo). I created a journal card using a Hero Arts 'Sparkle Clear Flower Frame' stamp and added some cobalt blue glitter (to add a bit of sparkle!). I also stamped a butterfly (on the patterned paper) and on a piece of card (I glittered that too).

For the second layout, I used what was left of the patterned paper sheet (this is an 8x8 layout) and stuck the two pieces together. The join was covered by the brown 'strip' on the manufacturers label at the bottom of the paper. I used the butterfly stamp on this page and added glitter as before.

Back to normal with the Boldon Scrapaholix Club - starts again next Tuesday - so will be posting the layouts for those soon.
